Geffen and Audible Will Co-Produce NIGHTFALL For 2019/2020 Season

Geffen Playhouse and Audible will co-produce Nightfall for the Los Angeles theater's 2019/2020 season, it was announced today. Written by Marisela Treviño Orta (The River Bride, Braided Sorrow, Wolf at the Door) as part of Audible's Emerging Playwrights Fund, Nightfall will make its world premiere in Geffen's Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater in February and marks the completion of the Geffen Playhouse 2019/2020 season lineup.
WST For Kids Series Concludes With FLY GUY: The Musical

The Walnut Street Theatre for Kids Series (WST for Kids) concludes its season with FLY GUY: The Musical, running from May 31 - June 8. In this WST for Kids finale, audiences will follow along with a boy named "Buzz" and his pet fly, "Fly Guy," for a wacky adventure and small-but-mighty fun!

The 2019 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were handed out last night to recipients in 19 categories, with one special award and three honorary awards also bestowed. The Lortel Awards were distributed in a ceremony at NYU Skirball Center hosted by Drama Desk Award-nominated writer and performer of The New One, Mike Birbiglia. The Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League by special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation. Additional support is provided by TDF.

The Off-Broadway League today announced nominations in 19 categories - and bestowed one special award - for the 34th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Awards will be handed out on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts, beginning at 7:00pm EST. The Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League by special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation. Additional support is provided by TDF. Beloved and celebrated entertainer, Wayne Brady, will emcee the ceremony.

CLOSING! Chapin Theatre Company presents DIXIE SWIM CLUB by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten. The production is directed by Ripley Thames and stars Tiffany Dinsmore, Meesh Hays, Zsuzsa Manna, Cathy Carter Scott, and Debra Haines Kiser. DIXIE SWIM CLUB opens Friday, April 26th and runs through Sunday, May 5th. Tickets are $18 for adults, $17 for seniors (60 and older), and $15 for youth (18 and under). Netflix has entered into a multi-year first look deal with director, producer, and award winning actress, Regina King. King's production company Royal Ties is entering into the first-look deal to produce films and series for Netflix. Her sister, Reina King, will serve as head of production of the shingle.

The Prisma Health Fringe Series will return with 4 gripping pieces surrounding mental health topics. These shows occur on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings during the runs of the Mainstage performances. The National recently announced their eighth studio album I Am Easy To Find due out May 17th on 4AD, and the companion short film of the same name written by Academy Award-nominated director Mike Mills (20th Century Women, Beginners), and starring Academy Award Winner Alicia Vikander. The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC) announces its 2019/20 series, featuring empowering narratives from marginalized communities, vibrant exaltations of multiculturalism, and breathtaking musicality in the Chan Shun Concert Hall.
