Book-It Repertory Theatre's landmark 30th season continues with The Turn of the Screw, adapted from the 1898 horror novella by Henry James. Adapted by Rachel Atkins and directed by Carol Roscoe, this production will dive into the darkest corners of James's most famous and haunting story, asking audiences to question who they trust and whose version of events they believe. This will be Book-It's first production under the leadership team of current Artistic Director Jane Jones and Incoming Artistic Director Gus Menary. The Turn of the Screw plays February 12 a?" March 8, 2020 (Opening/Press Night on Saturday, February 15) at The Center Theatre. 

L. Walter Stearns, Executive Director of Mercury Theater Chicago, announced today the cast and creative team of the upcoming SHEAR MADNESS, running on the main stage from February 7 through March 29. The press opening is Sunday, February 16 at 7pm. This hit comedic murder-mystery has slayed the hearts of audiences around the world for more than 40 years, following a mysterious murder above the Shear Madness Salon - leaving it to the audience to catch the killer among the actors. SHEAR MADNESS will be directed by the Jeff Award winning Warner Crocker.

A and B meet to recreate the feats of a famously homosexual serial killer who's haunting the streets of London. A, who's providing the service for a price, creates the scenarios of choice while B gets off on the pain and shame that comes from it. After a successfully sold-out run at The Glory, Alexis Gregory has taken Sex/Crime to Soho Theatre leaving one to wonder if audiences at the East End venue co-owned by Gregory's co-star Jonny Woo were seeing the same piece.

The University of Hawai'i at Mānoa's Department of Theatre and Dance and Kennedy Theatre are proud to present The Last King of Bali, a traditional Balinese folk tale adapted by I Ketut Wirtawan and I Madé Moja, dynamically staged with giant shadow puppetry, actors, dancers, and live gamelan music. The production is co-directed by Kirstin Pauka, Director of the Asian Theatre program at UHM, and Moja, with compositions and music direction by I Madé Widana.  Performances will take place February 7, 8, 14, and 15 at 7:30 p.m., and February 16 at 2:00 p.m. on the Kennedy Theatre Mainstage. Free pre-show chats will take place before the February 8th and February 15th performances. Tickets are $8-$25.

Award winning playwright, Felix Rojas, will introduce his new play, A DAY IN THE CRIB, at a reading scheduled for February 7th at 7pm at Teatro Circulo, 64 E 4th St, New York, NY 10003.

Broadway's master songman, Mandy Patinkin, accompanied by Adam Ben-David on piano, will bring his newest theatre concert Mandy Patinkin in Concert: DIARIES, to the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall for one performance only on Sunday, February 16 at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.

Confronting a Soviet foe determined to show that communism was the face of the future, the U.S. would need a new generation of astronauts. BLACK IN SPACE: BREAKING THE COLOR BARRIER premieres Monday, February 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Smithsonian Channel and will also be available to stream on Smithsonian Channel Plus beginning February 1.

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will host its 2020 Spring Puppet Performance Series on four Saturdays from February to May 2020, featuring outstanding works of puppet theater by professional puppeteers from across New England and beyond. Each show will be performed twice, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. All performances will take place at the Ballard Institute Theater located at 1 Royce Circle in Downtown Storrs.

With the cold weather outside, do you long to escape to a warmer place? While you may not be able to escape someplace warm, Tallgrass Theatre Company is taking us to a warmer place in their season-long journey across America. Their current production of a?oeOther Desert Citiesa?? takes us to the sunny city of Palm Springs. Their production, which was delayed by two days due to snow, opened on January 18. This journey to the east coast leaves us with a question about what cost we will go to protect our family.

This musical adaptation of Lorca's all-female play is visually arresting, aurally reminiscent of flamenco, and provides a grim dissection of misogynistic oppression within one female-headed household.

Jeremy O. Harris's Slave Play, directed by Robert O'Hara, concluded its Broadway run at the John Golden Theatre yesterday. The show played 29 previews and 121 regular performances. Check out the director addressing the crowd following the hit play's final curtain call. 

While you may not need a proscenium stage, proper stage rigging, and high end equipment, performing in a space not intended for theater certainly introduces some challenges. Director Michael Ricciardone gathered a team of designers to overcome the limitations of a non-traditional venue. When a talented cast meets a dedicated crew, it doesn't matter what kind of building you perform in, as long as everyone puts in their heart and soul; and you could feel that passion in Getup Stage Company's production of Heathers at Trinity-On-Main.

Mid-January in New York City does not appear to be a particularly romantic or momentous time of year for The Big Apple. The Christmas decorations have come down (most of them at least) and the holiday revelers and hoards of tourists have retreated, getting on with their own lives for the start of a new year -- and in this case, a new decade -- during a very tumultuous time where everything matters and nothing, especially in the arts, feels arbitrary.

The iconic Riverside Studios return to a brand new building after a five year redevelopment project. West London will benefit from multiple performance, rehearsal and broadcast spaces in the shadow of Hammersmith Bridge. The new building also boasts two cinemas with films selected by renowned curator Jason Wood, who promises a mix of first run films alongside the best in independent film.
