National Tour is tighter and cleans up some of the grittier sensibilities while employing Broadway level talent.

Sharon Playhouse announced casting for its 2026 season, featuring SWINGTIME CANTEEN, 42ND STREET, COME FROM AWAY, a full YouthStage season, and special events including THE DIVINE SISTER starring Charles Busch.

Seeing The Music Man in Mason City just feels right. When the new national tour came through the North Iowa Area Community Auditorium, it felt a little different than seeing a typical touring Broadway show. This is the town where the musical’s creator, Meredith Willson, was born and raised, so the story has a real connection here.

As the touring production of The Music Man makes its way to Mason City, Iowa, it feels less like just another tour stop and more like a homecoming. After all, this is the hometown of composer Meredith Willson—the very place that inspired River City.

The Sharon Playhouse, the historic arts and entertainment venue in the Northwest Corner of Connecticut has announced casting for the 2024 season. 

Sharon Playhouse, the arts and entertainment venue in the Northwest Corner of Connecticut, continuing its tradition of pairing extraordinary talent from Broadway, television, and film with talented local actors from the the community of Northwest Connecticut and beyond, is delighted to present Lionel Bart's classic musical, Oliver! based on the Charles Dickens novel, Oliver Twist, from August 4 - 20.

Whether a Broadway freshman or seasoned senior, BroadwayHD viewers can get schooled in theatre classics like The Sound of Music and Romeo and Juliet, to more advanced theatre titles like The Importance of Being Earnest to Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill, and graduate with honors.

BroadwayHD announced today that they will be bringing Little Women to their platform for its exclusive worldwide debut on April 21.  

LITTLE WOMEN, the musical based on the 1868 novel of the same name by Lousia May Alcott, opened at Park Theatre on Wednesday 17 November following previews from 11 November.

The March sisters seem to spike in popularity every decade or so, due to films, series or feminist movements. Most recently Greta Gerwig turned Louisa May  Alcott’s novel into a high grossing blockbuster featuring a stellar cast. Now the Park Theatre have resurrected Little Women in the form of a 16-year-old Broadway musical that nobody seems to remember even though it won Sutton Foster a Tony nomination. History repeats itself. With a book by Allan Knee, music by Jason Howland, and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, the piece is sadly unmemorable, but the company give their best nonetheless. A list of forgettable songs populate a traditional musical with pacing issues that’s nothing to write home about.
