The National Tour of Waitress, running now through March 20th at the Detroit Music Hall, is something spectacular. Waitress tells the story of Jenna - a Waitress and expert pie maker in a small southern town. She dreams of a way out of this small town and away from her broken marriage and abusive husband. Through the thought of winning a local pie baking contest and forming a brand-new life, Jenna longs to make her dreams a reality. In order to do so, Jenna must summon the strength and courage to rebuild her own life. With original music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles, this show is sure to leave you singing in your seat.

Today, Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) announced the exciting line-up of musicals for its 2022/23 Season featuring a beloved Disney classic and pre-Broadway co-production with Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre.

The producers of Waitress and Blumenthal Performing Arts announced casting for the hit Broadway musical, which will return to Charlotte for a special five-week engagement April 19–May 22, 2022 in the Booth Playhouse, followed by a five-week engagement at Cleveland’s Playhouse Square May 26–June 26, 2022 in the Hanna Theatre.

Stephanie Torns will star in the lead role as Jenna Hunterson after understudying the role at the American Repertory Theater, prior to the Broadway run, as well as on Broadway. Stephanie also played supporting and ensemble roles throughout the original Broadway run and the show's restaging in 2021.

This news was announced out of SXSW in Austin, TX where stars Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Paula Pell, Busy Philipps and showrunner/EP Meredith Scardino participated in a panel discussion hosted by moderator and GIRLS5EVA guest star, Andrew Rannells.

The diner opens March 25 at The Whiting as it presents Waitress with three performances: March 25 at 8 p.m. and March 26 at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The hit Peacock series GIRLS5EVA is set to premiere Season 2 on Thursday, May 5th. Three episodes will be premiered on the release date, followed by a new episode every Thursday.
