CHOIR BOY follows a group of young Black students at Charles R. Drew Preparatory School for Boys as they navigate issues of identity and sexuality.

And oh, how gloriously they ruled it. Disney’s Descendants: The Musical, directed with commanding vision by Caitlin Peterson and cleverly co-led by student director Samuel Jones, wasn’t just a school production, it was a theatrical uprising. A royal coronation of mischief, magic, and mayhem. 

Pasadena Symphony will launch a bold new era with the announcement of its 2024-25 season, the first to be programmed and led by recently appointed Music Director Brett Mitchell, who is only the sixth conductor to helm the orchestra since it was founded in 1928.

The Palm Beach Symphony’s televised performance of Eudora’s Fable: The Shoe Bird has taken flight and has been seen by more than 114.7 million viewers around the U.S. since March. 

The Seattle Symphony will present the 2022/2023 Merriman-Ross Family Young Composers Workshop Concert on Thursday, May 18, at 7:30 pm in the S. Mark Taper Foundation Auditorium at Benaroya Hall, with Douglas F. King Assistant Conductor Sunny Xia at the podium.

Violinist and Colburn School alumna Anne Akiko Meyers will be the featured keynote speaker on May 1 at the 2023 Conservatory of Music Commencement, where she will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the School.

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church presents the Choir of Clare College, Cambridge UK in a performance of 20th and 21st century choral works. This stellar vocal ensemble will perform pieces by composers including Benjamin Britten, Leonard Bernstein, Herbert Howells, Arvo Pärt, and Eric Whitacre.

 The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra USA's 2022/23 season continues with special father and son guests Maestro Gerard Schwarz and internationally recognized cellist Julian Schwarz on April 22-23 at Skyview Concert Hall.

On March 16th at 8:30pm, Composers Concordance will present the program 'Ludwig's Night Out'. World-renowned violinist Anne Akiko Meyers will join the eclectic band Sound Liberation in a program inspired by Gene Pritsker's composition 'Ludwig's Night Out'. The idea of this composition is that Beethoven has a night out on the town while his Sonata No. 4 (for violin & piano) is echoing in his mind.

After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, choral music returns to the Colburn School under the leadership of singer, composer, and conductor Adrian Dunn, who has been appointed Director of Choral Programs, Community School of Performing Arts. Dunn will direct the Community School's junior and youth choral ensembles, and the Colburn Concert Choir, and work with students ages 5 - 18 in musicianship, vocal technique and ensemble skills.

South Florida PBS will be the first in the nation to televise Palm Beach Symphony's production of “Eudora's Fable: The Shoe Bird,” an adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winner Eudora Welty's only children's book, “The Shoe Bird.” The concert will be broadcast Sunday, September 11 at 3 p.m. on WPBT and 7 p.m. on WXEL in Palm Beach County. 

Palm Beach Symphony's late board president Dale Archer McNulty was integral in transforming the non-profit into one of the area's top cultural institutions and positioning it to become one of the nation's leading orchestras. The Symphony will recall and celebrate his contributions this season with its family series of concerts, the opening concert of the season and the major social event of its season.

Palm Beach Symphony will present Eudora's Fable: The Shoe Bird, an adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winner Eudora Welty's only children's book, The Shoe Bird, at the Eissey Campus Theater at Palm Beach State College on Sunday, October 24 at 3 p.m. 

The “Enchanting Evening with Julian Schwarz” is the third in the Masterworks Series and immediately follows the Palm Beach Symphony's 19th Annual Gala: Sustaining the Note.

GHOSTLIGHT RECORDS has announced that Rags - The Musical: Original London Cast Recording is available on CD online and in stories today, Friday, July 17.
