On Monday, March 4 at 6:30pm the medieval court of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table will come to life on the stage of the Vivian Beaumont Theater when Lin-Manuel Miranda stars as King Arthur in Lerner & Loewe's CAMELOT, directed by Bartlett Sher, for a one-night-only concert event to benefit Lincoln Center Theater.  He will be joined by Solea Pfeiffer as Guenevere, Jordan Donica as Sir Lancelot, Dakin Matthews as Merlyn, Ruthie Ann Miles as Nimue, Ethan Slater as Mordred, Julie White as Morgan Le Fey, and Jenn Colella, Jason Danieley, and Bonnie Milligan as three of the Knights of the Round Table.   Andy & Betsy Kenny Lack, Brooke & Daniel Neidich, and Caryn Zucker are the Benefit Co-Chairs.  Proceeds from the evening will support Lincoln Center Theater's productions and education programs. The New York Pops, led by dynamic Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke, opens its 2018-2019 Carnegie Hall season this Friday, October 19 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, with a program entitled Roll Over Beethoven: A Different Kind of Orchestra. The concert-which honors rock giants including Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and others-features three-time "Las Vegas Headliner of the Year" winner Frankie Moreno who is joined by vocalists, dancers, and a rocking band for this performance. Mr. Moreno last appeared at Carnegie Hall with The New York Pops and Mr. Reineke in 2015, performing the music of Frank Sinatra. (more...)

The national tour of the 2015 Tony Award-winning revival of THE KING AND I, now brightening the Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts in Worcester, is a perfectly respectable production. The timeless and soaring Rodgers and Hammerstein score is beautifully sung and impeccably played by the 16-piece orchestra, and design elements (especially Catherine Zuber's elegant period costumes) effectively juxtapose the traditions of 1860s Siam against the encroaching modernization of the. But something is off balance in this Bartlett Sher directed re-visioning. The women, not the King, rule. (more...)

The young wind musicians of Pacific Symphony have been blowing up a storm lately. Since last season's milestone 10th anniversary, which culminated in a triumphant European Tour, Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble (PSYWE)-wind and percussion students in grades 8 through 12-has continued to knock its audience off its feet with exciting and diverse programs performed with awe-inspiring talent. After opening the 2017-18 season with John Philip Sousa's march for the inauguration of President Garfield, PSYWE closes with another piece by the American march king, composed for the same president's funeral. The program also includes such gems as "Variations on America" by Charles Ives and a Suite of "Old American Dances" by Robert Russell Bennett. (more...)

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andr Bishop) has announced that Allan Corduner will play Colonel Pickering, Jordan Donica will play Freddy Eynsford-Hill, and Linda Mugleston will play Mrs. Pearce, in its upcoming production of Lerner & Loewe's MY FAIR LADY, directed by Bartlett Sher. They join Lauren Ambrose (as Eliza Doolittle), Harry Hadden-Paton (as Henry Higgins), Norbert Leo Butz (as Alfred P. Doolittle), and Diana Rigg (as Mrs. Higgins) to head the cast of 37 in this new production of the most beloved musical of all time, beginning performances Thursday, March 15 and opening on Thursday, April 19 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street).
