BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that James Lipton, executive producer, writer, and host of the Bravo cable television series Inside the Actors Studio, has died at age 93.

MaryJo Mundy, the highly acclaimed and beloved cabaret singer and founder of the longest running open mic at the famed Gardenia, hosts the 4th night of what celebrates and fosters musical theatre/cabaret performers, while also showcasing her own remarkable talent. On the third Saturday of every month Ms. Mundy (co-hosted monthly by Alexis Gach and singer/songwriter/producer Hillary Rollins ) throws a 'cabaret party' on-stage at the Gardenia along with three guest performers.

The Metropolitan Opera production of Philip Glass's Akhnaten comes to the big screen in HD at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, December 1 at 12:55pm in an extra special encore presentation featuring a live Q&A on The Playhouse stage during intermission with The Met Opera's Susan Gomez Pizzo, Solo Ladies Wardrobe Supervisor, and Louis Valantasis, Principal Men's Wardrobe Supervisor.

Broadway's Future Songbook Series - presented by Arts and Artists of Tomorrow - continues its 2019-20 season on Monday, October 28th in the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center located at 111 Amsterdam Avenue and 65th Street. Produced and Hosted by John Znidarsic, the evening spotlights the songs of Anthony Nunziata. Show time is 6PM and ADMISSION IS FREE.

Rachel York is set for a recurring role in the new Fox drama series Filthy Rich, according to Deadline. She will star opposite Kim Cattrall, Gerald McRaney and Melia Kreiling in the high-profile new drama. 

he five-day Catalina Film Festival (CFF) celebrates its 9th annual festival in coastal sister cities with iconic and historic film venues. The continued partnership with Long Beach connects the island festival's experience to the mainland Sept. 25-29, 2019, bookending CFF with 'launch' and 'landing' premieres, parties and panels Wednesday-Thursday and Sunday in Long Beach. The New York Philharmonic will present the seventh season of The Art of the Score, September 11a?"14, 2019, featuring two New York Premiere screenings, both conducted by Richard Kaufman: Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind in Concert, with John Williams's score performed live to the film, and Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho in Concert, with Bernard Herrmann's score performed live to the film. Actor and Philharmonic Board Member Alec Baldwin returns as Artistic Advisor of The Art of the Score, which explores some of the most distinctive uses of music in film.

Following the screening, Mr. Alves will explore the making of Close Encounters and behind-the-scenes challenges including creating the massive alien ships, moderated by Thomas A. Walsh, ADG, Production Designer and ADG Film Society Co-chair. The annual 2019 Screening Series Production Design: Designers On Design, highlighting the work of renowned Production Designers and their creative collaborations, is in association with American Cinematheque.

Montalvo Arts Center invites movie-lovers to sit under the stars and enjoy classic movies with Sunset Cinemas. Part of its Summer Nights Series, the free screenings of The Wizard of Oz, Grease, and Jaws will take place on the front lawn of Montalvo, where guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or low chair to set up.
