Buffalo Theatre Ensemble Announces 2022-2023 Season

The season will open with Bruce Norris’ Tony, Olivier and Pulitzer Prize-winning “Clybourne Park,” directed by Kurt Naebig (Sept. 8 – Oct. 9). It will be followed by Alan Ayckbourn’s feisty holiday comedy, “Season’s Greetings,” directed by Connie Canaday Howard (Nov. 17 – Dec. 18). With a nod to the Cleve Carney Museum of Art/MAC summer 2023 exhibition “Warhol,” BTE will complete the season with Vince Melocchi’s fictional play “Andy Warhol’s Tomato” directed by Steve Scott (Feb. 2 – March 5).
Buffalo Theatre Ensemble Finishes Season with NAPERVILLE

Buffalo Theatre Ensemble (BTE), the professional Equity company in residence at the McAninch Arts Center (MAC), wraps up the 2021-2022 Season with “Naperville,” written by Mat Smart and directed by BTE Member Kurt Naebig. New York Theatre Review calls it a “valentine to the heart and soul of the American suburbs.” There will be a Preview performance 8 p.m., Thursday, April 28. Press opening is 8 p.m., Friday, April 29. Performances run through May 29.

The season continues with Mat Smart's “Naperville” directed by Naebig (Jan. 27-Feb. 27), and Richard Bean's “One Man Two Guvnors” an English adaptation of “The Servant of Two Masters (Italian: Il servitore di due padroni)” directed by Canaday Howard (April 28-May 29).
FringeArts Receives Pew Grant for Operatic Project Awakening

Jacob's Pillow Presents The World Premiere Of POWER, July 10-14

Dance Theatre of Harlem celebrates 50 years of dance at Jacob's Pillow and commemorates the legacy of their late co-founder Arthur Mitchell in the Ted Shawn Theatre, July 10-14. Founding member and principal dancer Virginia Johnson now leads the multi-ethnic ballet company known for their innovative repertoire, acclaimed as "classy, earnest, and potent" (LA Times). Returning to the Pillow for the first time in five years, Dance Theatre of Harlem performs a program showcasing the dancers' diverse technical expertise in Darrell Grand Moultrie's Harlem on My Mind, Christopher Wheeldon's This Bitter Earth, George Balanchine's Valse Fantaisie, and premiering at the Pillow, an expanded version of Jacob's Pillow Dance Award winner Annabelle Lopez Ochoa's Balamouk.

Partners for Sacred Places and Philadelphia Contemporary, in partnership with Danspace Project (NYC), are pleased to announce Grounds that Shout! (and others merely shaking), a series of performances and talks exploring connections between faith, movement, race, and the body, with a focus on the African American religious experience. Curated by the award-winning choreographer Reggie Wilson and featuring Wilson's Fist and Heel Performance Group and a collection of local Philadelphia artists, Grounds that Shout! will take audiences to four historic churches, exploring these themes within the specific context of Philadelphia's sacred spaces.

Steve Downes Joins Cast of EMPEROR Audiobook

Sullivan Serials has announced the release of the audiobook Emperor, a political thriller featuring voice-over actor Steve Downes as an authoritarian American ruler. The audiobook is available on commercial platforms including Amazon, iTunes and Audible, as well as on platforms used by public libraries including Access 360, Hoopla and Overdrive. Emperor is the fourth episode of the audiobook serial The American Fathers.
