Laughter.  An expression or appearance of merriment or amusement you will experience when you come to see The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (presented in One Act) at The Farmington Players Barn.  Six awkward spelling champions compete for the top prize only to learn there is more to life than winning or losing the contest. The show opens Today December 4th and runs through Sunday, December 20th.  In the spirit of Opening Night, the pre-show party will include a middle school cafeteria theme.  Reserved seats for evening and matinee performances are available now at 248-553-2955 or online at www.farmingtonplayers.org

Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) Underground presents an unconventional holiday musical in Striking 12, on stage from December 17 - 23, 2015 in Zilkha Hall at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Striking 12 is presented in a new format for Underground, in a novel band-as-the-actors format, playing the piano, drums and a super-cool six-string Viper violin.

Good Day Philadelphia got into the spirit of Broadway today when they held their own The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee! The crew of Good Day Philadelphia got together with the cast of the Bucks County Playhouse production to share some laughs and show off their amazing spelling skills. Can you spell F-U-N?

The show runs tonight, September 4, and September 5, 10-12, 17-19 at 8 PM and September 6 at 2 PM in the Kresge Little Theater.

The Astoria Performing Arts Center (APAC), recipient of the 2012 Caffe Cino Fellowship Award from the Innovative Theatre Foundation, is pleased to announce their 15th season which will include a world premiere play by Cheryl L. Davis (2014 AUDELCO Playwriting Award winner for Maid's Door), CAREFULLY TAUGHT, directed by Pat Golden (Assistant Director on Emily Mann's Broadway production of A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams), and the award-winning musical THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, directed by APAC Artistic Director Dev Bondarin (APAC's IT Award Nominated In The Bones and Merrily We Roll Along). Additionally, Bondarin is introducing a new program of works based on the Astoria community, called ASTORIA STORIES. APAC's performance venue is located at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 30-44 Crescent St (@30th Rd), in Astoria, Queens.

The company just finished a rigorous two-week rehearsal schedule in preparation for their Bucks County Playhouse stage debut tonight, August 14th. Barrington Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, presents the American screwball comedy His Girl Friday, John Guare's adaptation of Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur's original play The Front Page and the screen version His Girl Friday, now through August 30 at Barrington Stage's Boyd-Quinson Mainstage. Opening night is tonight, August 12 at 7pm.

What would happen if one were to switch the first few letters of "amazing" to form a new, exciting word that only certain minds could quickly figure out? Actually, who cares! As long as each of you knows the word's definition and what it implies, there can only be synonyms of the word used to describe Monomoy Theatre's current production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Having never before seen a production of this rather well-known comedy of a musical, letting Monomoy give me a very impressive and lasting first impression was a wonderful was an absolute privilege; I didn't expect anything less from the group, as the amount of talent on stage makes every play and musical performed wonderful, to say the least. Spelling Bee is really something quite special, as such a simple idea for a plot is taken and transformed, through music and rather peculiar characters, into something that will keep audiences laughing for an evening; it is a production that will not have anyone spelling "regret."

Alysha Umphress has a special relationship with Barrington Stage Company and William Finn so it wasn't a surprise that on her day off  from On The Town she came to Pittsfield and sang in Mr. Finn's Cabaret.  It also wasn't a surprise the demand for tickets was so great that a second late show had to be added.
