The San Diego International Film Festival, www.sdfilmfest.com celebrated their 18th year from October 15-20 at the 6 day annual Festival. Over 3,000 films from over 70 countries were submitted to the festival, with ultimately 107 films chosen to be screened. At the Filmmaker Awards night on Saturday, October 19th, 15 films received awards from the festival. Votes from attendees were also tallied to establish Audience Choice Awards.

The Oscar-Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival saw a record 6,000 submissions from over 80 countries for their 15th anniversary. The organizers are thrilled to announce that over 400 films from 30 different countries will compete for this year's top prizes during the festival's 10-day run from August 8-17 at TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood. Last year, four HollyShorts finalists were nominated for an Academy Award with three bringing home the gold, including the Best Live Action Short a?oeSkina?? from filmmakers Andrew Carlberg, Guy Nattiv, and Jaime Ray Newman.

Over six-thousand submissions later, the Oscar-Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival is thrilled to announce their star-studded opening night lineup. With last year's Best Short winner 'Skin' going on to win the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short, the stakes for accepted films were more competitive than ever for the festival's landmark 15th Anniversary. HollyShorts' Opening Night festivities will be on Thursday, August 8th at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood, CA.

With the onslaught in today's media of how women should look to attract men rather than being true to who they really are, playwright Sheila Callaghan has taken a very personal stand in her madcap new play WOMEN LAUGHING ALONE WITH SALAD, now presented in its West Coast premiere at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City. Directed by Neel Keller, with musical staging by Ken Roht, performances continue through April 3. The gender-bending cast includes Lisa Banes, Nora Kirkpatrick, David Clayton Rogers and Dinora Z. Walcott, all of whom plays both female and male characters!
