Opened in 2017 and founded by Nicholas Hytner and Nick Starr, who both departed the National Theatre after 12 years, the Bridge Theatre is a 900-seat adaptable auditorium, capable of utilising end-on, thrust and promenade staging. Productions so far include Hytner's immersive Julius Caesar, Alan Bennett's Allelujah!, and one-woman plays starring Maggie Smith and Laura Linney. Manhattan Theatre Club, Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) have just announced the American premiere of the London Theatre Company (Nicholas Hytner and Nick Starr) production of My Name is Lucy Barton starring Laura Linney (Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes, 'Ozark'), by Elizabeth Strout (Olive Kitteridge), adapted by Rona Munro (The James Trilogy), and directed by Richard Eyre (The Crucible, Notes on a Scandal) as part of Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming 2019-2020 season. After a sell-out run in June this year in which Laura Linney made her London Theatre debut, she will return to the Bridge to reprise the title role in Richard Eyre's production of My Name is Lucy Barton. Running from 23 January -16 February 2019 for a strictly limited 26 performances, this haunting dramatic monologue is adapted by Rona Munro from Pulitzer Prize-winning Elizabeth Strout's 2016 New York Times best-selling short novel of the same name. Evening performances are Monday to Saturday at 7.45pm with Saturday matinees at 2.30pm. Tickets for My Name is Lucy Barton will go on sale for Priority Members today at 10am, for Advance Members on Thursday 18 October 2018 at 10am with tickets released for public sale on Friday 19 October 2018 at 10am. Nicholas Hytner will direct the world premiere of Alan Bennett's Allejujah!, previewing at the Bridge Theatre from 11 July 2018 with opening night on 18 July and running to 28 September 2018. Designed by Bob Crowley, Allelujah! will have lighting by Natasha Chivers and music by George Fenton.
