Welcome home, Bandstand! Just last night, a brand new musical took its place on Broadway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. Directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler, (Hamilton) with music by Richard Oberacker and a book and lyrics by Robert Taylor and Richard Oberacker, Bandstand stars Corey Cott and Laura Osnes. Anika Noni Rose has signed on for the upcoming thriller ASSASSINATION NATION. Abra and Suki Waterhouse, Odessa Young and Hari Nef round out the cast. Sam Levinson will direct from his own screenplay.

Like You Like It RADcording cast members Nick Cearley ('The Skivvies,' Pageant), and Lesli Margherita (Matilda) will appear at The Drama Book Shop along with authors Daniel S. Acquisto and Sammy Buck for a book & CD signing celebrating Shakespeare's birthday. Friday, April 21st, 5:00pm event is free to the public. Copies of the script, published by Playscripts, Inc., and the CD, from Broadway Records, will be available for purchase.

Lyric Opera of Kansas City concludes its 59th season with Gilbert & Sullivan's delightful comic operetta The Pirates of Penzance  April 22, 26, 28, 29, and 30 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Maestro Steven Reineke lifted his baton, pointed to a first tier box and started the New York Pops playing probably the most well known song ever written as he led the audience in Happy Birthday to soon to be 90 year old John Kander.  BroadwayWorld was there for the opening night exciting concert which celebrated the music of the award winning song writers, the legendary Kander & Ebb.  Cassie Levy and Tony Yazbeck, the triple threat singer, actor, dancers were the concerts guest artists. Probably not since Vladimir Horowitz had a nail tapped into Carnegie's stage for his piano placement has there been better tapping (dancing) than Mr. Yazbeck displayed at this concert.  As in every New York Pops Concert, the joy of the music continues as Steven Reineke hosts an after party.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director/CEO) presented its annual 2017 Spring Gala 'Act II: Setting the Stage for Roundabout's Future' last night, February 27,  in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria (301 Park Avenue, NYC). The evening honored legendary four-time Tony-winning stage and film actor Frank Langella with The Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre and Leonard Tow, Founder & Chairman of The Tow Foundation, with the Ovation Award for Excellence in Philanthropy.

Audiences have a final chance to 'Seize the Day!' - tickets are now available for 'Disney's Newsies: The Broadway Musical!,' playing in U.S. movie theaters for three days only on Thursday, February 16 at 7:00 p.m., Saturday February 18 at 12:55 p.m. and Wednesday, February 22 at 7:00 p.m. (all local times).
