BSMS has announced the five stage managers receiving the 2022 Charlie Blackwell Symposium Scholarships for BIPOC stage managers and welcome them to the professional development and networking conference made by stage managers, for stage managers, featuring Broadway's stage managers.

The webinar, titled The Stage Manager’s Role in Building an Equitable and Compassionate Production Culture, will take place on Tuesday, April 5 from 2:00-4:00pm EST. Enrollment is free and open to all, with advance registration required. ASL interpretation will be available.

McGee, & Cody Renard Richard, the Broadway Stage Management Symposium awards five scholarships for stage managers of color to attend the annual professional development and networking conference for stage managers, the Broadway Stage Management Symposium.

The Public Theater has just announced that in-person standby tickets are back for Shakespeare in the Park starting today, July 20.

BroadwayWorld has learned that the Public Theater has postponed opening night of the return of Shakespeare in the Park. Jacob Ming-Trent, who plays Falstaff in Merry Wives, sustained an injury onstage during a recent performance. Opening night will now be on August 9 to 'support his full recovery.'

The Public Theater will begin performances of the 2021 Free Shakespeare in the Park production of MERRY WIVES on Tuesday, July 6 at The Delacorte Theater. The all-Black staging of the delightful comedy will officially open on Tuesday, July 27 and was recently extended by three weeks to now end on Saturday, September 18.

BSMS 2021 will focus on strategies and adjustments to our practice and technique to respond to our experience and learnings during the shutdown.

BSMS has announced the five stage managers that have been chosen to receive the first ever Charlie Blackwell Symposium Scholarships for BIPOC stage managers. Each recipient will receive a complimentary pass to the Broadway Stage Management Symposium as well as a personal meeting with the adjudicator who chose them.

At the first Broadway & Beyond: Access for Stage Managers of Color event, Matthew Stern, BSMS founder announced a new scholarship specifically for BIPOC stage managers. ”We acknowledge that there is unintended, systemic racism in our industry. At the Symposium, we want to find a way to open the door for stage managers of color.”

artEquity, in partnership with Yale School of Drama, has announced the launch of its latest leadership program for fieldwide systemic change. The BIPOC Leadership Circle prioritizes, centers, and addresses the needs of BIPOC leaders in cultural arts institutions and comes at this particular time when values-based leadership is needed even more.
