What did our critic think of SWEENEY TODD at Signature Theatre? Set in the dark streets of London in 1785, we follow barber Sweeney Todd (Nathaniel Stampley) as he returns from wrongful imprisonment by the horrifying Judge Turpin (John Leslie Wolf).

What did our critic think of MY FAIR LADY at Robinson Center? With a little bit of luck Broadway World was able to catch the amazing masterpiece of the Lincoln Center Theater Production of MY FAIR LADY at Robinson Center, 426 West Markham St., in Little Rock, Friday, May 19. Directed by Bartlett Sher with tour direction by Samantha Saltzman, this Lerner and Loewe classic whisked us away to London to follow a flower girl on her quest to raise her station in life. I do love a good girl-power tale, especially when it is infused with song after memorable song.

Katsura Sunshine continues to bring the 400-year-old Japanese art of Rakugo around the globe as he extends his stay in New York at New World Stages with its next show on February 18, and will run through the end of the year.

The Guthrie Theater today announced the cast and creative team for Sweat, written by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and directed by Tamilla Woodard. Sweat will play July 16 – August 21, 2022, on the McGuire Proscenium Stage.

David Geffen School of Drama at Yale is pleased to announce its inaugural Design Showcase in New York City. The Design Showcase will introduce scenic, costume, lighting, sound, and projection designers from the classes of 2020 and 2022 on May 19 and 20 at The Public Theater Studios (440 Lafayette Street).

Katsura Sunshine will continue performances of Katsura Sunshine's Rakugo as part of his year-long residency at the Leicester Square Theater.  Sunshine is also preparing to simultaneously return to New York City on March 10, 2022, where the show ran for six months until COVID shut it down.  

The world’s only Western Rakugo Master, Katsura Sunshine, will return to live performances on two continents simultaneously. Beginning on December 12th, Katsura Sunshine’s Rakugo will play the West End with a year-long residency at the Leicester Square Theater and will return to New York City’s New World Stages on January 27th, 2022.

I found myself with an overwhelming sense that what I was watching play out could easily have been an episode of television’s Law and Order or perhaps, more appropriately, the Broadway production of EQUUS from the 1970s. 

Second Stage Theater has announced full casting for the off-Broadway production of Rajiv Joseph’s LETTERS OF SURESH. The production will feature Ali Ahn, Ramiz Monsef, Kellie Overbey and Thom Sesma. 

Second Stage Theater has confirmed three Broadway productions at the Hayes Theater (240 West 44th Street) and two Off-Broadway productions at the Kiser Theater (305 West 43rd Street) for the return season, beginning performances in fall of 2021.
