Cast Members Of THE LIGHTNING THIEF Join MONSTERSONGS IN CONCERT; VR Game to Debut

Sam Leicht, T. Shyvonne Stewart, Izzy Figueroa, and Sarah Beth Pfeifer will make a special appearance at the previously announced Feinstein's/54 Below premiere of Monstersongs, written by Rob Rokicki, composer of Broadway's The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical. Audience members who are torn between whether to see the Greek mythology monsters of Percy Jackson or the vampires and witches of Monstersongs needn't worry; much like the talented cast members mentioned above, they can be a part of both.

RAVE THEATER FESTIVAL Announces Festival Awards

The inaugural Rave Theater Festival wrapped up over the weekend, and festival awards were given to select shows and performers.  Winners were chosen for outstanding production, outstanding musical, outstanding play, outstanding performances, outstanding direction, outstanding design, outstanding original score, outstanding book of a musical, outstanding choreography, outstanding ensemble, and outstanding marketing.  Fancy Maids by Harold Hodge Jr. led the awardees with three.  Four more shows were recognized with two awards each, including Back, Oceanborn, The Perfect Fit, and The Tycoons!.

The live recording session where audiences vote on the songs for the album is announcing its guest stars for the two spring performances. #OriginalMisch: Four Night Stand is an interactive evening of original songs by Mischa Kischkum, with four guest stars and Dan Busa. Each of the four shows this year will have a slightly different song list, and a definitely different guest star.

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents the work of Gonzalo Valencia, Michael Campbell, and David Maglione in "New Works from New Jersey" on June 10th, 2019 @ 9:30pm. The concert will feature the music and lyrics from two brand new musicals, penned by New Jersey based writers. Goblins and Gates (Gonzalo Valencia and Michael Campbell) tells a story of the importance of friendship and family in and out of a pen and paper role-playing game. The Only Way Out (David Maglione) is a tale of survival, injustice, and ultimately, freedom, set in 1960's England. This night of diverse subject matter and melodies highlights the thrilling process of building a musical from the ground up.

The 2019 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were handed out last night to recipients in 19 categories, with one special award and three honorary awards also bestowed. The Lortel Awards were distributed in a ceremony at NYU Skirball Center hosted by Drama Desk Award-nominated writer and performer of The New One, Mike Birbiglia. The Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League by special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation. Additional support is provided by TDF.

All four interactive evenings are at Don't Tell Mama on Saturday, May 4 at 4:00 pm, with additional shows Monday, June 3 at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, September 18 at 7:00 pm and Monday, October 13 at 4:00 pm.

22nd Annual Black Box New Play Festival Announced At The Gallery Players

The Black Box New Play Festival is the Gallery Players' signature festival of new works by both new and established playwrights. Now in its 22nd year, the festival will premiere 11 new plays over the course of three weekends. The festival opens Thursday, January 10 and runs through January 27, with a new collection of plays presented each week. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30PM, and Sundays at 3PM. There will be a talk back with the playwrights directly after the Sunday matinees.

Directed by Max Friedman, with choreography by Andrew Palermo, and music direction/arrangements by Adam Podd, the cast features Sam Bolen, Jeremy Cohen, and Jon J. Peterson. Now in performance through Sunday, November 4, 2018 at The York Theatre Company.
