BIRDLAND THEATER will present acclaimed jazz vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli in a new monthlong Tuesday residency starting on May 31 at 5:30 PM. After Stravelli opens the series, each month the club will showcase a new artist. Stravelli – who has been compared to the legendary Ella Fitzgerald by the New York Times, hailing her “emotional intelligence, easy-going confidence and impeccable taste” – will be joined by pianist Michael Kanan and bassist Pat O’Leary. There is a $20 music charge. Birdland is located at 315 West 44th Street in New York.

Birdland presented singer/songwriter Wendy Moten in a very special concert on Monday, May 16. Ms. Moten, best known for her remarkable run on “The Voice,” celebrated the songs of Richard Whiting, as well as pop standards by Janis Ian, Paul Simon, and an impromptu duet of “Bye Bye Blackbird” with Broadway’s Jessica Vosk.

Fresh off a sold out appearances at historical gay venues, The Duplex and Don't Tell Mama, New York City-based cabaret singer/actor Zoë Van Tieghem kicks off Pride month with her Birdland debut. Van Tieghem, accompanied by Matt Baker on piano, Paul Goldfinger on bass and Adam Ray on drums, brings her unique flair to the cabaret genre.
