Oklahoma! is the first musical written by the team of composer Richard Rodgers and librettist Oscar Hammerstein II. The musical is based on Lynn Riggs' 1931 play, Green Grow the Lilacs. Set in farm country outside the town of Claremore, Indian Territory, in 1906, it tells the story of farm girl Laurey Williams and her courtship by two rival suitors, cowboy Curly McLaine and the sinister and frightening farmhand Jud Fry. A secondary romance concerns cowboy Will Parker and his flirtatious fiancee, Ado Annie.

Bill Hanney's award-winning North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) kicks off the 64th Annual Season with Rodgers and Hammerstein's OKLAHOMA!, one of the greatest classic musicals of all time, playing for two-weeks only from Tuesday, June 4 thru Sunday, June 16, 2019. Leg Up On Life presents MATRIARCH benefiting Planned Parenthood hosted by Daniel Gold. Gold created Leg Up On Life wanting to create a platform for artists together of all styles to get their works out to the public while raising money for a phenomenal organizations. Matriarch is taking place Monday, April 30th, 2018 at Dixon Place. Performances will take place 6pm and 8:30pm doors opening a half hour prior. Throughout the shows there will be raffles taking place that can only be won if in attendance.

The Original Broadway Cast Recording of Escape to Margaritaville, the new musical featuring the songs of iconic singer-songwriter-author Jimmy Buffett, to be released on Mailboat Records, is available for pre-order today, Monday, December 18 at www.MailboatRecords.com/E2M.html. The full album, which was recorded last month in Chicago and features both original songs along with many of Jimmy Buffett's classics, will be released both digitally and on CD, on Friday, February 16, 2018, the morning of the show's first Broadway performance.

Jimmy Buffett himself was on hand to help officially open the Escape to Margaritaville box office (Marquis Theatre, 210 West 46th Street) on December 8 at 10:00am. BroadwayWorld attended the event and you can check out the photo here!
