Wrapping up the Encores! Off-Center season is Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Road Show, running tonight, July 24, through July 27.

Washington Concert Opera (WCO) announces its 2019-2020 lineup, a season that champions rare works and celebrates award-winning voices. The season will start in November with Ambroise Thomas' Hamlet. Then in April they will present Giuseppe Verdi's Simon Boccanegra, a truly stunning work that has not been heard in D.C. since 1998. In addition to these GWU Lisner Auditorium performances, the season will feature a third annual Opera Outside series at Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park.

IFC announced today that the network has partnered with Mad Decent to drop the official soundtrack for its upcoming variety sketch series Sherman's Showcase, premiering Wednesday, July 31st at 10pm ET/PT. Sherman's Showcase (Original Soundtrack), featuring full-length versions of the songs from the series, is set for digital release on August 9 via Mad Decent, the  Los Angeles-based record label founded by Thomas Wesley Pentz, better known as Diplo. The soundtrack will also be available on vinyl later this summer. 

Due to continuing high ticket demands and overwhelming success in London, the booking period for Magic Mike Live has been extended to 26 April 2020. Tickets on sale from today, Tuesday 23 July.

Off-Center Artistic Director Anne Kauffman and Director Will Davis to discuss the making of this production.

At San Diego Comic-Con, Sir Patrick Stewart treated 'Star Trek' fans attending the 'Star Trek' Universe panel to the first trailer for STAR TREK: PICARD and shocked the audience by bringing out surprise guests and 'Star Trek' icons Brent Spiner, Jeri Ryan and Jonathan Del Arco, announcing they will be appearing in STAR TREK: PICARD. In addition to the surprise guests, it was revealed that 'Star Trek's' Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis will make appearances in the new series as well. During the panel, it was also announced that STAR TREK: PICARD will premiere in early 2020 exclusively on CBS All Access in the U.S.

The New York Musical Festival (NYMF) has announced the performer lineup for Intersecting Chords, the annual NYMF concert that celebrates female, trans, and non-binary songwriters who are changing the landscape of musical theatre. Intersecting Chords is directed by Shelley Butler, music directed by Charity Wicks, and produced by Hannah Lang.

Wrapping up the Encores! Off-Center season is  Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Road Show, running July 24-27. Directed and choreographed by Will Davis, with music direction by James Moore, Road Show tells the somewhat true story of the Mizner brothers who inherit a small fortune at the turn of the 20th Century and set out to grab their piece of the American Dream in a country where anything seems possible. The production will star Chuck Cooper (Papa Mizner), Raul Esparza (Wilson Mizner), Jin Ha (Hollis Bessemer), Mary Beth Peil (Mama Mizner), and Brandon Uranowitz (Addison Mizner).

Baseless Fabric, Finalists at the 2018 Off West End Awards for Best Opera Production, return with a new production of Strauss' Die Fledermaus. The production will pop up in more than 30 high street venues in Merton and Wandsworth this August, with free, unticketed performances for all, as well as being adapted for two indoor performances at the Arcola Theatre as part of the 2019 Grimeborn Festival. The cast includes soprano Claire Wild, who has extensive credits with Welsh National Opera, Opera North and English National Opera.

Theatre of NOTE continues its 2019 season with the world premiere of DRIVING WILDE by Jacqueline Wright, directed by Bart DeLorenzo.  DRIVING WILDE will preview Friday and Saturday, August 16 and August 17 at 8pm, and will open on August 22 at 8pm and run through September 21 at Theatre of NOTE, 1517 N Cahuenga Blvd (just north of Sunset) in Hollywood.    

Cartel Entertainment, a full-service management and production company, has optioned the rights to Marina Gessner's bestselling young adult novel “The Distance From Me to You” with multi-album recording artist and actress Sabrina Carpenter (Short History of the Long Road, Netflix's Tall Girl, The Hate U Give) attached to produce and star.  The upcoming film project will be executive produced by Stan Spry, Jeff Holland and Drew Brown for Cartel Entertainment alongside Danielle Fishel (Boy Meets World).

Netflix and Shondaland have set the cast for the upcoming series, BRIDGERTON. Pop singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson today released the music video for her debut single “Missing You,” from Stranger Songs – a unique album inspired by Netflix's pop culture phenomenon, Stranger Things. The video was directed by Daniel Carberry and the song was co-written with Jesse Thomas (Louis Tomlinson, Martin Garrix) and co-written and produced by Sam de Jong (Marina, Little Mix, CYN).

Legendary heroes and villains conquer the seas and cross the galaxy in a pair of epic adventures performing July 19-21 at Perseverance Theatre, by the students of STAR: the swashbuckling new musical Bloody Blackbeard, written by Preston Lane with songs by Laurelyn Dossett, directed by Julie York Coppens; and an original space-age take on Shakespeare's Pericles, adapted by Coppens and staged by Perseverance Theatre's new managing director, Frank Delaney.
