Review: GROUNDHOG DAY, Old Vic

There’s more than a whiff of familiarity down at London’s Waterloo at the moment; Olivier award-winning Groundhog Day is back at the Old Vic and so is Andy Karl, playing the sneering weatherman Phil Connors. We loved it, Broadway didn't, but this revival is a veritable theatrical triumph and a heartwarming treat for anyone lucky enough to get a ticket.

Review: BLEAK EXPECTATIONS, Criterion Theatre

It's always welcome to see a little show that's done good: from a BBC Radio 4 comedy series, to Newbury's Watermill Theatre, Mark Evan's Dickensian parody now has a home in the West End.

Review: BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, @sohoplace

While the romance shared between Ennis (Lucas Hedges) and Jack (Mike Faist) was immortalised by the Academy-Award Winning film of the same name, it takes on an entirely new life on the stage in a stunning production directed by Jonathan Butterell.

Interview: 'This is the Most Meta Acting Gig Ever!' Andy Karl on Being a Clown, UK Audiences and Returning to GROUNDHOG DAY

BroadwayWorld UK recently spoke with Andy Karl about what it's like to be returning to the role of Phil Connors in Groundhog Day at The Old Vic, seven years since its original run at the same venue. We discussed what it has been like returning to the show after its runs in London and New York, favourite moments, and even what he would do in a time loop

Photos: First Look at Mike Faist and Lucas Hedges in BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN

All new production photos have been released for the world premiere of Brokeback Mountain, a new play with music, written by Ashley Robinson with songs by Dan Gillespie Sells, based on Annie Proulx’s short story, and directed by Jonathan Butterell.

Review: THE BEEKEEPER OF ALEPPO, Theatre Royal, Glasgow

The Beekeeper of Aleppo tells the story of Nuri, a beekeeper; and his wife, Afra, an artist. They live a simple life, rich in family and friends, in the beautiful Syrian city of Aleppo - until the unthinkable happens. When all they care for is destroyed by war, they are forced to escape. On their terrifying journey, they must face the pain of their own unbearable loss alongside incredible danger. Above all, they must journey to find each other again.

Review: THE GOOD PERSON OF SZECHWAN, Lyric Hammersmith

For an eighty-year-old play about the perils of capitalism and human-nature born kicking and screaming amongst the political turmoil of Weimar Germany, it neither looks nor feels like it has aged a day.
