BWW Review: MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT at Ordway Center For Performing Arts
by Brett Burger
- Apr 6, 2019
What is described to some as crude humor to others is the best kind of humor. I was delighted to see that the touring production of Monty Python's Spamalot was touring and would be making a stop in St. Paul at the Ordway. Adapted from the 1975 film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, this production moved to Broadway in 2005 and stars a lot of well-known names. The Broadway production was even nominated for 14 Tony awards and won three including Best Musical. The Broadway run even starred some now very big names including Tim Curry, David Hyde Pierce, Christian Borle and Sara Ramirez (Greys Anatomy).

Then get yourself over to The Washington Pavilion for the last two performances of Monty Python's SPAMALOT. This show will have you laughing from beginning to end and have you looking on the brighter side of life! Eric Idle (book, music, and lyrics) and John Du Prez (music) take the jokes everyone knows and loves from the original screenplay of Monty Python and The Holy Grail movie and add a uniquely Broadway flair to the classic story.

Monty Python fans gathered in Jacksonville Monday night for Monty Python's Spamalot. Laughter erupted through the Moran Theatre at The Times Union Center for the Performing Arts as fans watched their favorite characters performing their favorite lines and jokes based on the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The show follows King Arthur and the Knights of the Round table on their voyage to find the Holy Grail. Accompanied by a great and comedic score, the show was greatly entertaining to all audience members, even those who were not familiar with Monty Python. It was a smash!

BWW Review: A Lovely Night! Rodgers And Hammerstein's CINDERELLA Is Must-See Musical Magic At The McCallum!
by David Green
- Nov 25, 2017
Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella is sumptuous and fanciful and bursting with all of the ingredients necessary to make up the perfect family musical . The score is timeless and emotionally stirring. The costumes and scenic elements are candy for the eyes. The dancing ensemble is impeccable and the choreography is energetic and intoxicating. And, though this has not always been the case in recent touring musicals, the cast is superb. I do, however, wish to reiterate family musical . It is definitively a five star version of children's theatre (complete with hand puppets representing the woodland creatures that befriend Cinderella and help make her dreams a reality) and, despite the modern wit liberally inserted by book writer Douglas Carter Bean, is not likely a wholly satisfying evening for a grown up audience unaccompanied by little ones. There are two or three grown up laughs in the entire evening the balance is really for the children.
