BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that author, playwright, television writer, and lyricist, Sam Bobrick, best known for creating the television series Saved By the Bell, has passed away after suffering a stoke. He was 87 years old.

Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation (FoxPACF) has announced that Wayne Salomon has been appointed to the Foundation Board.

For the final season in their Kennington home, Ovalhouse's Demolition Party Season will see collaboration between engineers and companies to allow artists dismantle parts of the building as part of their creative process. After 80 years as a community venue and 55 years as a professional theatre, Ovalhouse will relocate to Brixton, opening a brand new, purpose-built theatre in spring 2021.

Theatre 68 is delighted to present a?oeDeath With Dignitya??Comes In A Milkshake,a?? another world premiere by Sam Henry Kass. This will be the fifth collaboration between director Ronnie Marmo and Sam Henry Kass, The show will open October 18, 2019, with one preview October 17 at Theatre 68

I'M NOT A COMEDIANa?? I'M LENNY BRUCE focuses on the life and battles of the undisputed comic legend, one of the greatest stand-up artists of the 20th Century. His life and work have had an impact on poetry, politics, music, film and, of course, comedy, becoming a true inspiration for hundreds of comics who followed his lead in speaking the truth about our out-of-whack society. During the 90-minute show, now more tightly presented so scenes seem to flow effortlessly, Marmo authentically inhabited the great passion and great pain Bruce endured in his tempestuous personal and professional lives, as well as his unwavering commitment to free speech which led to numerous obscenity charges and arrests.

A series of special events will surround the world premiere of the play Self-Injurious Behavior at Theatre 68 in North Hollywood aimed not only at raising public awareness of the issues faced by families affected by autism, but at direct outreach to Los Angeles families facing them as well as autistic individuals themselves.

Theater 68 is pleased to announce five additional performances of the smash hit, a?oeI'm Not A Comediana??I'm Lenny Brucea?? a?" The award-winning show starring Ronnie Marmo, directed by Joe Mantegna and also features NYC based burlesque dancer, Pearls Daily, will return for five additional performances: August 8, 9, 27, 28, and 29, 2019, at Theatre 68, where it began.

The impetus behind ROCK AND ROLL MAN: THE ALAN FREED STORY was not the Freed family. Gary Kupper was approached by Larry Marshak, with whom he had worked for many years, about a third party's desire to do a story about Alan Freed as a 'jukebox musical'. The intention was that Kupper might be able to write a couple of songs for the piece. Kupper realized that Freed's story is a classic one. A rise and fall and then redemption story that can't be told as a jukebox musical because Alan Freed wasn't a singer. He feels that a jukebox musical would have cheated the story. This is the story of this man, and the story of Rock-and-Roll. That notion gave birth to the 'book musical'. In 2011, Kupper started writing original songs and sometime later, the team started writing the script. Freed's son, Lance, stepped-in and helped to secure the rights to the Rock-and-Roll classics. They have combined the music of the era with storytelling. They admit it's both risky and tricky and has never really been done to the extent that it is in this show. Thirty to thirty-five original songs were written, most of which were thrown out. A little more than a dozen are in the current iteration of the show.

The show, which had a workshop at Theatre Three (Dallas) in May 2018 and then an off-Broadway showcase in April, will have its official world premiere September 6, 2019, with previews beginning Aug. 30, at Theatre 68 Los Angeles.
