'4@15' Runs This Weekend at The Playroom Theater

4@15: Four New Fifteen-Minute Musicals, performed in conjunction with University of California, Irvine, will commence performances Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, for three performances only at the Playroom Theater featuring new works by By Sujin Kim and Daphny Maman, David Christensen and Michael Shapiro, Ryan Korell and Jonathan Keebler, and Minjoung Hwang and Brandon Michael Lowden. Tammy Holder serves as Music Director; Brian Blythe directs.

Once again, the Weston Playhouse Theatre Company will light up a winter night with a free concert of songs from an exciting new musical performed by top Broadway talent. On Today, February 28 at 8 pm, a cast of five will sing selections from Katya Stanislavskaya's new musical Resident Alien. The event has been designated a VT Arts 2015 event by the Vermont Arts Council.

Cast Members from the Broadway musical IF/THEN will perform the songs of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning writing team of Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey on Monday, March 2 at 54 Below (254 West 54th street). There will be two performances - 7:00pm (sold out) and a special added 11:30pm (tickets available). The one-night only concerts were originally scheduled for Monday, January 26th, but were re-scheduled due to winter storm Juno.

Anita Darian, a soprano whose four-octave voice earned her the nickname “The Armenian Yma Sumac” and spawned an eclectic 50-year career that ranged from performances with the New York City Opera, Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic to big-band jazz concerts, co-starring roles with Barbara Cook, and hit pop recordings that included “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” is dead at 87. A longtime resident of East Atlantic Beach, L.I., she died Sunday, Feb. 1 at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside of complications from surgery.

This winter, Alexander Greenfield - Associate Director of the acclaimed Broadway production of Outside Mullingar and The City of Conversation at Lincoln Center - directs Libra Theater Company's production of Tom Diggs' new play KIND SOULS, performing January 16 - February 1 at Theatre 54.
