Longtime En Garde Arts Chairperson and board member Joan D. Firestone is being honored with the creation of a fund in her name. En Garde Arts has raised $100,000 through a group of generous donors. This is a five year endeavor and every year one theatre artist will receive an $18,000 award and will have full freedom with how to use the funds.

The League of Professional Theatre Women will launch its 40th Anniversary Season on September 20th, with birthday messages from theatre luminaries: Irene Gandy, Emily Mann, Charlotte Moore, Estelle Parsons, Tonya Pinkins, Theresa Rebeck, Daryl Roth, Susan Stroman, Linda Winer and more.

Holy Ship! Wrecked has made a slew of announcements to further build anticipation ahead of its 2022 edition at Hard Rock Riviera Maya, Mexico this December 13-17. This includes activities, theme nights, branded party takeovers, and day-by-day stage lineups for the Main Stage, Beach Stage, Pool Stage, Sunrise Stage, Tropic Stage, and Wrecked Stage.

The cast has been announced for the Roundabout Underground world premiere of the bandaged place by Harrison David Rivers. The cast includes Stephanie Berry as “Geraldine Irby,” Jake Ryan Lozano as “Sam Yates,” Sasha Camille Manuel as “Ella Irby,” Anthony Lee Medina as “Ruben Torres,” Jhardon Dishon Milton as “Jonah Irby.”

The Civilians (Steve Cosson, Artistic Director; Margaret Moll, Managing Director), the award-winning New York-based theater company, will honor actor-manager and co-founder of NAATCO Mia Katigbak and Obie Award-winning director and arts leader Les Waters at The Civilians 20th Anniversary Gala Concert. The event, which takes place on Monday, May 23 at 6:30pm at City Winery (25 11th Ave), will celebrate two decades of creative investigation into the richness and complexity of life.

City Theatre Company, Pittsburgh’s home for contemporary plays, has announced the details of the theatre’s 48th season of bold, new works, beginning in September 2022. City Theatre’s second season post-pandemic shutdown will feature five plays with first-time and returning artists, plus special events.

This Christmas, Tron Theatre Company will present a brand-new Tron festive classic, Olive the Other Reindeer. Despite the panto not returning until next year, the undisputed kings of Christmas cheer, Johnny McKnight (Writer) and Kenny Miller (Director & Designer) are back to get us in the festive spirit, with this heart-warming and triumphant tale of friendship, chaos and of course – non-stop hilarity!

1776 will now play May - July 2022 in the Loeb Drama Center before it plays at Roundabout Theatre Company in fall 2022 and begins a national tour in February 2023.  WILD in Concert is a new musical starring Idina Menzel, which was created by Tony and Obie Award-winning playwright V (formerly Eve Ensler).

Tony Award-winning theatre producer Daryl Roth and playwright Theresa Rebeck (both Co-Chairs of the LPTW Advisory Council) will introduce the 2021 Theatre Women Awards Virtual Gala and speak about their hopes for the future of the industry, as live theatre returns. The event will be presented virtually by the League of Professional Theatre Women on Monday, June 7 at 7pm. 

The Dramatists Guild of America has announced they will present the 2021 Horton Foote Playwriting Award to five amazing playwrights – Carla Ching, Kia Corthron, Aleshea Harris, Donja R. Love, and Mfoniso Udofia - at the Dramatists Guild’s awards presentations later this summer. 

Award presenters for the 2021 Theatre Women Awards Virtual Gala, presented by the League of Professional Theatre Women on Monday, June 7 at 7pm, will include actress/director Martha Gehman; composer/director Troy Anthony; former League President Joan D. Firestone; Joe Barros, Artistic Director of The New York Theatre Barn and more.

Estelle Parsons will be honored, along with a diverse group of six other remarkable women theatre artists, at the League of Professional Theatre Women’s Theatre Women Awards virtual gala. This major event in the LPTW calendar will be presented online via Zoom on Monday, June 7 at 7pm.

Today Keen Company Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein announced additional guests for the highly popular FREE event, Keen After Hours.  Matthew Saldivar will be featured tonight, Monday November 30th followed Mia Katigbak next Monday, December 7th. Keen After Hours is free and open to all..

VOPERA: The Virtual Opera Project, announces its inaugural production of Maurice Ravel's L'Enfant et les Sortilèges, with the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) under the baton of Lee Reynolds (ROH Linbury Theatre, Opéra de Monte Carlo, Nederlandse Reisopera, Associate Director: National Youth Orchestra), with premiere set for 16 November 2020 at 8pm (UK time).
