It's just another Rotten Monday to start the work week as rehearsals begin today, Monday, February 9, for the completely original new musical comedy Something Rotten!, directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Aladdin), with music and lyrics by Grammy Award winner Wayne Kirkpatrick and Golden Globe Award nominee Karey Kirkpatrick and a book by Karey Kirkpatrick and best-selling author John O'Farrell.

Beginning tomorrow, $15.95 tickets for every seat at the first three performances of Something Rotten!, a completely original new musical comedy opening on Broadway this spring at the St. James Theatre, will go on sale to celebrate the year in which the musical is set.

Broadway producers announced today that Something Rotten!, an original new musical, will forego its previously scheduled world premiere production at The 5th Avenue Theatre, and open directly at the St. James Theater on Broadway this spring. Another exciting new musical will be announced shortly to take its place in The 5th Avenue Theatre's 2014/15 season.

Earlier today it ws announced that Side Show will close at the St James Theatre in January, and according to the New York Times, Something Rotten! might takeover the space. A New York City developmental lab was held this fall, under the direction of Casey Nicholaw. Leading the cast (of the Lab, and not necessarily future productions) were Christian Borle, John Cariani, Allen Fitzpatrick, Brian d'Arcy James, Beth Leavel, Brad Oscar, Kate Reinders, Jeff Steizter, and Gerry Vichi.

Standing before a packed house of subscribers, Executive Producer and Artistic Director David Armstrong revealed The 5th Avenue Theatre's 2014/15 season. "Every year we try to choose a season that embodies our mission: to celebrate our great indigenous art form, The Musical - past, present, and future," Armstrong said. "With an array of shows ranging from a hotly-anticipated Broadway tour to a hilarious world premiere, not to mention celebrated contemporary classics and one of the immortal musicals from the Golden Age of Broadway, we believe that this season truly represents the breadth and depth of what musical theater has to offer."
