The Theatre World Awards were presented Monday night, June 5.  Julie Benko received the 14th Annual Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence in the Theater, and 2023 TWA Special Award Honorees, Marilyn Caserta for Outstanding Swing and Dale Badway for Outstanding Contribution to the Theatre World.  Check out photos here!

Drama Book Shop will host a signing event for the published script of KIMBERLY AKIMBO on Tuesday, May 30 at 7:30pm. Tony Award nominees Jeanine Tesori and David Lindsay-Abaire will kick off the event with a Q&A moderated by a Drama Book staff member and will sign scripts for event attendees.

CBS Mornings launched their 'Road to the Tonys' series this morning by putting a spotlight on Kimberly Akimbo. During the segment, host Anthony Mason sat down with the show's three Tony nominated actors, Victoria Clark, Justin Cooley, and Bonnie Milligan, plus writers David Lindsay-Abaire and Jeanine Tesori. On May 18th, the 2023 Triangle Rising Star Awards took place through the Durham Performing Arts Center. This regional competition brings together high school musical theater students from Central and Eastern North Carolina to perform and compete for the chance to represent the Triangle in The National High School Musical Theater (otherwise known as The Jimmy) Awards in New York City on June 26th. The national competition celebrates outstanding student performances in high school musical productions from all over the United States. Shortly after the Triangle Rising Star Awards, I had the great pleasure of interviewing both of this year's winners, Noah Colvin of Enloe High School and Lilly Pritchard of Heritage High School.

The concert features Bonnie Milligan performing 'Better,' Victoria Clark and Miguel Gil performing 'Anagram,' Alli Mauzy singing 'Father Time,' and the cast performing 'Great Adventure' The concert also features Steven Boyer, Olivia Elease Hardy, Fernell Hogan, Michael Iskander, and Nina White. Beginning tonight, KIMBERLY AKIMBO, in partnership with the New York City Public Schools Theater Program, will host three New York City public high school show choirs as they make their Broadway debuts on stage at the Booth Theater.

Recipient of eight Tony Award nominations including BEST MUSICAL, the critically-acclaimed new musical KIMBERLY AKIMBO will launch the Great Adventure Grants, a unique initiative that will fund three local high school musical theater productions next year, helping defray licensing, production, and other costs associated with each school's upcoming musical.

On Thursday, the nominees met the press and BroadwayWorld's Jennifer Broski was on hand to capture portraits of each of them on their big day!
