Trey and Matt infamously created the SOUTH PARK animated series, and Robert Lopez helped conceive the puppet comedy AVENUE Q. They took eight years to develop this one (small workshops that progressively grew larger), which finally opened on Broadway in 2011, launching the careers of Andrew Rannells and Josh Gad.

ABC presents a two-night special event commemorating the 60th anniversary of Walt Disney’s motion picture, Mary Poppins. “Good Morning America” will also air a special performance from Broadway’s Ashley Brown, on Wednesday, Nov. 27. 

The show works because it forces us to identify with these well-meaning Mormon kids, which has the double effect of indicting our own sense of cultural supremacy while also softening the slurs toward its Latter-Day Saints.
