Liberation Theatre Company (LTC) will present the New Voices Reading Series -- public readings of original full-length plays developed by the four playwrights in their 2019-2020 Writing Residency Program.

Every February for the past three years, JAG Productions has invited African-American theatre artists to spend a week in White River Junction, Vermont to further the development of a new play or solo performance. Over the course of the one-week residency, three to five projects receive an intensive workshop, constructive feedback, and a staged reading for the public at Briggs Opera House. This year we are excited to announce a new partnership with the Hopkins Center for the Arts, where we will be concluding our festival with our final reading at the Bentley Theater!

Performances will be on Saturday, January 4 at 7pm, Sunday, January 5 at 7pm, Monday, January 6 at 8pm, Tuesday, January 7 at 7pm, Thursday, January 9 at 7pm, Friday, January 10 at 7pm, Saturday, January 11 at 7pm, Sunday, January 12 at 3pm, Monday, January 13 at 3pm, Thursday, January 16 at 7pm, Friday, January 17 at 7pm, Saturday, January 18 at 7pm, Sunday, January 19 at 3pm, Friday, January 24 at 7pm, Saturday, January 25 at 7pm, and Sunday, January 26 at 3pm. Tickets ($20) are available for advance purchase at www.thetanknyc.org. The performance will run approximately 85 minutes, with no intermission.

The Tank will present its 2019-20 season at 312 West 36th Street in its 98-seat proscenium and 56-seat blackbox spaces. This season marks The Tank's 2nd anniversary in its home on West 36th Street and embodies the company's mission to break down economic barriers and invest in emerging artists by sustaining an incubator and home for the creation and presentation of their work.

Samuel French's Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival (OOB), the nation's premier short play competition, is excited to announce that Lauren Yee (Cambodian Rock Band, The Great Leap, The Hatmaker's Wife) is this year's honorary festival playwright. Additionally, the distinguished lineup of judges will include Masi Asare, Eleanor Burgess, Clarence Coo, Vichet Chum, Chris Giordano, Keli Goff, David L. Kimple, Margaret Ledford, Emily Morse, Salem Tsegaye, Miriam Weiner and Alexis Williams.
