The Tank (Meghan Finn, Artistic Director; Johnny G. Lloyd, Director of Artistic Development) has announced the World Premiere of Don’t Do This To Us!, written by and co-produced with Stephanie Swirsky (but you’re okay) and directed by Tasha Gordon-Solmon (The Karpovsky Variation). The Tank will present Immense Joy, a new work devised and directed by downtown luminary Anna Kohler in collaboration with performers Natalia de Campos, Justin Gordon, John Hagan, Fabio Tavares, and associate director Caleb Hammond. The performances run from September 8 through 18, 2022.

The Tank announced programming for their eco-forward festivals, TrashFest and DarkFest, from Saturday July 30 – Sunday August 7, 2022. Both festivals will take place in-person at The Tank NYC.

Vatican Falls, the controversial play written by Frank J. Avella that closely examines the Catholic sex abuse scandal while telling real survivor stories and exploring the fictional journey of one particular survivor will make its world premiere this Fall in a limited engagement run Off-Broadway.

Second Stage Theater has announced casting for the upcoming world premiere production of PATIENCE by JOHNNY G. LLOYD. The production is directed by Zhailon Levingston and will feature Justiin Davis, Jonathan Burke, Nemuna Ceesay, Zainab Barry, and Mary E. Hodges.

New York Stage and Film begins its summer season in Poughkeepsie on Saturday, July 9 and will run for five weeks to Sunday, August 7 for in-person programming that will support more than 35 new stories for theater, film and television. 

The Tank has announced initial programming for its annual PrideFest. Every year in June, The Tank opens the floor to a wide variety of performances and discussions surrounding the topics of sexuality, gender, and equality, old battles, and new ways of fighting them.

Second Stage Theater has announced casting for the upcoming world premiere production of 53% OF. The production will feature ANNA CRIVELLI, EDEN MALYN, MARIANNA McCLELLAN, GRACE REX, CATHRYN WAKE, and AYANA WORKMAN.

The Tank has announced the World Premiere of War Stories, by Marthe Rachel Gold and directed by Christina Roussos. Performances for War Stories begin on May 20, with an opening night set for May 21 and limited run through June 12 at The Tank’s Proscenium Theater (312 W 36th St, New York, NY, 10018).

Directed by Julia Sirna-Frest, Puffy Hair uses the confessional structure of stand-up to send-up the oppressive power structures of the male gaze.

A Simple Herstory is a theatrical and high concept podcast series about the women who have run for President of the United States. The series is produced by The Muse Project and presented by The Tank.

Pulitzer winners Paula Vogel, Katori Hall, Annie Baker & Sam Shepard are just 4 of the many celebrated playwrights whose work was developed in the Bay Area Playwrights Festival (BAPF). Established in 1976 and currently led by Playwrights Foundation’s Executive Artistic Director Jessica Bird Beza, this year’s BAPF runs July 16-25, featuring 5 very different new works. Casts include acclaimed actors such as Emily Kuroda. BroadwayWorld recently caught up with Beza to talk about the festival.
