York Walker Announced as the Inaugural Recipient Of Vineyard Theatre's Colman Domingo Award

York Walker will be the inaugural recipient of the Vineyard Theatre's Colman Domingo Award. Seeded in 2019 from the longtime collaboration between The Vineyard and Domingo, the Colman Domingo Award will be bestowed annually to a multi-faceted Black male or male-identifying theatre artist to provide support and resources to create new work.

Ava DuVernay's ARRAY Releasing Acquires THEY'VE GOTTA HAVE US

They've Gotta Have Us, a dynamic chronicle of art, activism and race in Black Cinema featuring in-depth interviews with some of Hollywood's most iconic voices, has been acquired by ARRAY Releasing as the company's first series acquisition.  ARRAY will premiere the docu-series on Netflix on February 5, 2020. ARRAY has also acquired distribution rights in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Africa. The announcement was made by ARRAY founder Ava DuVernay.

Oscar-nominated producer Lynette Howell Taylor and producer Stephanie Allain will produce the 92ndOscars, Academy President David Rubin announced today. It will be their first involvement with the Oscars, which airs live on ABC and broadcast outlets worldwide on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020.

BAM Presents PURPOSE AND PASSION: THE CINEMA OF JOHN SINGLETON

From Friday, September 13 through Friday, September 20, BAM presents Purpose and Passion: The Cinema of John Singleton, a career retrospective dedicated to the trailblazing late director. 'The sudden, shocking death of John Singleton at the age of just 51 in April 2019 robbed the world of a trailblazing, influential and, arguably, somewhat underrated chronicler of Black life on film,' says series programmer Ashley Clark. 'This is both a full retrospective of the late director's characteristically muscular, thought-provoking cinematic output, and a chance to pay tribute to a singular talent.'   

BOYZ N THE HOOD Soundtrack to be Released on Double Vinyl

On September 27, Qwest/UMe is set to release the groundbreaking, multi-genre Boyz N The Hood soundtrack on double vinyl in two different color options: black and translucent blue. This will mark the first time the soundtrack for Boyz N The Hood has been reissued on vinyl since the album's initial release on July 9, 1991. This special new 2LP edition also honors the indelible legacy of Boyz N The Hood director and soundtrack executive producer John Singleton, who sadly passed away in April 2019 at age 51.

FX Renews SNOWFALL for a Fourth Season

Snowfall has been renewed for a fourth season on FX, it was announced today by Nick Grad and Gina Balian, Presidents, Original Programming, FX Entertainment. The acclaimed drama series created by John Singleton & Eric Amadio and Dave Andron will return to FX in 2020.

BUSHWICK HOMECOMINGS: THE RECORD to Be Screened at Hip Hop Film Festival in Harlem

At the conclusion of her 2006 award-winning short documentary “Bushwick Homecomings” Stefanie Joshua said that “only time will tell” what the future would hold for the rapidly changing neighborhood.   Now, over a decade later the Brooklyn–born filmmaker returned  to her native Bushwick  and the result – “BUSHWICK HOMECOMINGS: The Record' will be screened on Saturday, August 3rd  during the  12pm movie block of the 2019 Hip Hop Film Festival  (HHFF) at the Harlem Film House / National Black Theatre Inc., (2031 5th Avenue) in Manhattan.

FX Lands Stellar Ensemble Cast for the Drama Series Pilot GONE HOLLYWOOD, Including John Magaro and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

FX today announced the cast that will star in the pilot for Gone Hollywood. Set in 1980, Gone Hollywood centers on a group of talent agents who defect from an old-guard percentery to found their own, which skyrockets to industry dominance, disrupting the business and changing movies forever. The show will mix its fictional protagonists with real-life entertainment figures and events.

Netflix Signs Exclusive First-Look Deal with Regina King

Netflix has entered into a multi-year first look deal with director, producer, and award winning actress, Regina King.  King's production company Royal Ties is entering into the first-look deal to produce films and series for Netflix.  Her sister, Reina King, will serve as head of production of the shingle.
