Alan Pally, an authority on Tony and Academy Award-winning British playwright Peter Shaffer ("Amadeus," "Equus"), will be guest speaker at the Playhouse's Sunday Symposium following the Sunday, June 4, 3 p.m. matinee performance of Shaffer's comedy "Lettice and Lovage."

Me The People: The Trump America Musical, a new musical revue with a book and lyrics by Nancy Holson (Bush Wars, The News in Revue on PBS - 5 Emmy Awards, Ludwig Live!) and directed and choreographed by Jay Falzone (Bush Wars, Cooking with the Calamari Sisters), will play at The Triad (158 W. 72nd Street between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues), it was announced today by producer Jim Russek.

New Line continues its 26th season with the local premiere of the fiery 2002 jazz-rock musical THE SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS, by legendary film and stage composer Marvin Hamlisch (his last theatre score), lyricist Craig Carnelia, and Tony-winning playwright John Guare, based on the famous short story and film. The show was nominated for seven Tonys, including Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Score, and eleven Drama Desk Awards. It's a Faustian moral nightmare, all set to a sizzling 'jazz noir' score from the composer of the stage musicals A Chorus Line, They're Playing Our Song, Smile, The Goodbye Girl, and the film scores for The Sting, The Way We Were, Sophie's Choice, and many others. 

After premiering Off-Broadway 13 years ago, The Tricky Part, heads to the City of Brotherly Love for a  two-night limited engagement May 22-23. The true story of a young Martin Moran, The Tricky Part has been called "a translucent memoir of a play … shattering and affecting" by Ben Brantley of The New York Times. This production of The Tricky Part is part of Drexel University's Entertainment & Arts Management Program's Producing Live Entertainment class, led by Drexel professor and Broadway producer Brannon Wiles.

Signature Theatre will offer a general rush policy for the world premiere production of The Antipodes, written by Residency Five playwright Annie Baker and directed by Lila Neugebauer, the company announced today.

One of the theater world's most prestigious playwriting prizes, the Yale Drama Series Prize, will be given to Jacqueline Goldfinger for her play Bottle Fly. NY's SoHo Playhouse in association with Dan Daw Creative Projects and Murmuration (AUS) present will present the US debut of ON ONE CONDITION, directed by Graham Adey and performed by Dan Daw. It will play at the SoHo Playhouse (15 Vandam Street), from May 18 - 26, 2017.

By now, the idea has morphed into a pop-culture game lampooning (or honoring) one of our most prolific actors, but when John Guare's play, Six Degrees of Separation, debuted on Broadway in 1990, the idea that everyone on the planet was connected through a web of just six other people was a hard to imagine. So, to celebrate the 27-year history of Guare's play, we are going to attempt to connect the stars who originated the main roles on Broadway to the actors that assumed them for the revival, using only Broadway credits; hopefully we can get there in just six 'degrees.'
