2013 promises to be a banner year for Tom Wopat. From the Feb. 12 release of his eighth recording I've Got Your Number, to his role in Quentin Tarrantino's highly anticipated film Django Unchained, (released 2012 Christmas) and the release of the ABC -TV family musical movie Lovestruck, in which he stars with Jane Seymour. While one can't help recall his starring role in the '80's hit television series The Dukes of Hazzard, it is Tom Wopat, jazz vocalist and the Tony nominated star of Broadway that's been garnering high critical acclaim for the last two decades.

THE JOHN MILLER QUARTET PLUS 2 will debut at The Cutting Room on Friday, February 1 for two shows after an unprecedented 21 week-run at the New York nightclub 54 Below. There will be performances at 10:00 PM and 11:30 PM. John Miller - the music and theater industry veteran best known as a bassist and music coordinator - brings together an all-star group of Broadway musicians who get together after the curtain falls to play their deep-groove favorites. In addition to Miller on bass, the show will feature Larry Saltzman on Guitar (Simon and Garfunkel, Carole King, Bette Midler, Chris Botti), John Korba on Piano (Hall & Oates, Phoebe Snow, Carly Simon, John Waite), Clint DeGanon on Drums (Stuff, Kid Rock, Elvis Costello, Saturday Night Live Band), David Mann on Tenor Sax (Tower of Power, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder), and Joe Passaro on Percussion (Aretha Franklin, Manhattan Transfer, Nina Simone, Donald Fagen). The Cutting Room is located at 44 East 32nd Street between Madison and Park Avenues.

A delightful midwinter night's dream, ALMOST, MAINE by John Cariani will play TheaterWorks in downtown Hartford. The sweet and poignant comedy runs tonight, January 25 - March 3, 2013, directed by Amy Saltz.

While one can't help recall his starring role in the '80s hit television series 'The Dukes of Hazzard,' it is Tom Wopat, jazz vocalist and the Tony nominated star of Broadway that's been garnering high critical acclaim for the last two decades.

With SIDEMAN SEZ, long-time Producer/Multi-instrumentalist and multiple Boston Music Award winner Rob Loyot takes his turn at the mic, delivering a Rhythm and Soul release in the style of Ray LaMontagne and Marc Cohn. The seed for the project was planted almost 15 years ago. As a "sideman" and bandmate for some amazingly talented songwriters over the last 25 years, in bands that played original music almost exclusively, Rob struggled with the fact that some of his favorite songs had never even been recorded. The songs, all borrowed from great songwriters that Loyot has worked with over the years, demonstrate a diverse set of influences from Little Feat's New Orleans gumbo of 'Take It Easy Baby' and the Gospel-inflected 'Let It Slide' to the Jack Jonhson-esque 'Passerby' and even giving a nod to Steely Dan with the dense chord changes of 'Sweetest Eyes' and the tight funkiness of 'Swing Out West.' In short, Sideman Sez is a loving nod to Loyot's own experience as a sideman, and to sidemen in general.

Superstar Beyonce sang The National Anthem at President Barack Obama's 2013 Inauguration earlier this week on the steps of the Capitol Building in Washington DC. The performance has become controversial however after it was revealed that Knowles was lip-syncing the whole thing to a backing track with her voice. Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers, featuring Edie Brickell announced their North American dates today for a tour which kicks off on May 22 in Ft. Meyers, Florida. The highly anticipated tour is the first for Martin and Brickell, who will perform songs from their album Love Has Come for You. The remarkable new collaboration isset for release on April 23 on Rounder Records.
