Multiple Grammy Award-winning violinist Mark O'Connor returns to his hometown of Seattle for an evening of music from his album, An Appalachian Christmas, Dec. 21. In describing this program of music, O'Connor says: 'Appalachia is the original melting pot of our country featuring more diverse styles of American music than just about anywhere. Growing up in the O'Connor musical household, Christmas time was a wondrous mixture of Christmas carols, fiddling, bluegrass and other traditional American music. And that is the spirit of An Appalachian Christmas.'

Japanese artist Ryoji Ikeda's film test pattern will be reimagined for the Times Square billboards this October. From 11:57pm to midnight each night, digital screens will be taken over by tightly synchronized, flickering black-and-white imagery mining data for mathematical beauty as part of Midnight Moment, a monthly presentation by The Times Square Advertising Coalition (TSAC) and Times Square Arts.

The Magic Flute reimagines Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's most beloved operatic work, incorporating African singing, pulsating beats and spirited storytelling into this 223-year-old classic. Based in Cape Town, the vibrant company of the Isango Ensemble unites the diverse nation of Africa by reinventing classics from the Western theater canon within a South African setting. Adapted and directed by Isango co-founder Mark Dornford-May, The Magic Flute took London by storm, garnering London's prestigious Laurence Olivier Award. Marking the centenary of the outbreak of WW1, Time Zone Theatre and Austrian director Pamela Schermann invited British playwrights to respond to Karl Kraus's The Last Days of Mankind. The winning play, Shoot, I didn't mean that by Catriona Kerridge, will run alongside a staging of the epilogue of Kraus's epic. The resulting double-bill aims to encourage an intercultural dialogue about global conflicts combining a play by one of the most influential Austrian playwrights of the 20th century with an emerging British talent.
