Photo have been released from the first night of Zadie Smith’s The Wife of Willesden at Kiln Theatre last night.

The Women's Prize for Playwriting, produced by Ellie Keel and Paines Plough, with Principal Partner 45North and in association with Sonia Friedman Productions today announce the 62 longlisted scripts for The Women's Prize for Playwriting 2021, selected from 850 entries.

In early 2021, Sundance Institute commissioned Jesse Cameron Alick, the newly-appointed Associate Artistic Director for the Vineyard Theater in New York and past creator advisor to the Institute’s Theater Program, to launch an in-depth field study to hear directly from theater makers about the most urgent needs of artists and the field.

Indhu Rubasingham directs Tony Jayawardena, Scott Karim, Daniel Lapaine and Sid Sagar. With design by Lizzie Clachan, lighting design by Oliver Fenwick, and sound design by Alexander Caplen.

“Making money can get intoxicating”, especially the kind of money American banker Nick Bright starts making his capturers from a drab cell in rural Pakistan. Ayad Akhtar’s The Invisible Hand comes back to Kiln Theatre directed by its artistic director Indhu Rubasingham.

American banker Nick Bright knows that his freedom comes at a price. Confined to a cell in rural Pakistan, every second counts. Who will decide his fate? His captors, or the whims of the market?

Kiln Theatre and Dasha Theatricals will present THE INVISIBLE HAND by Ayad Akhtar 1 -31 July at Kiln Theatre. The cast features Tony Jayawardena, Scott Karim, Daniel Lapaine, and Sid Sagar.

Following a sell-out run at Kiln Theatre, Amy Trigg's debut play Reasons You Should(n't) Love Me, will be available to view online for 3 performances only from 18–20 June. Directed by Charlotte Bennett, Reasons You Should(n't) Love Me opened to critical acclaim at Kiln Theatre in May, and has limited number of tickets available for the remainder of its run until 12 June.

The National Theatre has today announced its programming until the start of next year with productions on all three South Bank stages as well as three major UK tours, two productions on Broadway, a return to cinemas, and a new feature film to be broadcast on television this autumn. In the week the theatre reopened for audiences again, six new productions were announced, and five productions halted by the pandemic were confirmed to return to the South Bank.

The Women's Prize for Playwriting opens today for submissions for the 2021 Prize, closing on 12 July at 5pm. The Women's Prize for Playwriting is designed to celebrate and support exceptional playwrights who identify as female by providing them with a national platform.
