In 1995, Yellow Earth Theatre was formed by five British East Asian (BEA) actors: Kwong Loke, Kumiko Mendl, Veronica Needa, David KS Tse and Tom Wu - aiming to develop work that would give BEA actors more choice of roles, and to bring together Western drama school training with exploration of East Asian cultural heritage. Mendl became Artistic Director in 2011, and the company is now celebrating 25 years.

Artistic Director of Kiln Theatre, Indhu Rubasingham, today announces that her critically acclaimed production of the UK première of Antoinette Nwandu's Pass Over extends for 2 weeks - now running until 4 April. Featuring three acclaimed performances by Alexander Eliot ('An unnerving performance' Financial Times), Paapa Essiedu ('Essiedu is superb a?" let's just give him all the awards now' Time Out) and Gershwyn Eustache Jnr ('A sensational performance' Guardian). The National Theatre today announces nine productions that will play on the South Bank in 2020-2021 alongside previously announced shows. These run alongside our international touring productions, three plays that will tour to multiple venues across the UK and a West End transfer. The NT also announces today that it will increase the quantity of low-price tickets on the South Bank by 25%, with 250,000 available across the year at £20 or less.

With Anupama Chandrasekhar's When the Crows Visit playing its final week and Mike Bartlett's Snowflake in rehearsals, Artistic Director of Kiln Theatre, Indhu Rubasingham, today announces the full cast for her production of the UK première of Antoinette Nwandu's Pass Over. Joining the previously announced Paapa Essiedu (Moses), are Alexander Eliot (Mister/Ossifer) and Gershwyn Eustache Jnr (Kitch). The production opens on 19 February 2020, with previews from 13 February, and runs until 21 March.

Kiln Theatre today announces their programme as part of Sadiq Khan's wider Brent London Borough of Culture 2020. The programme includes the world première of Zadie Smith's The Wife of Willesden directed by Artistic Director Indhu Rubasingham, renewing their collaboration following the acclaimed world première stage adaptation of Smith's White Teeth in 2018, Footholds: NW Stories; a trilogy of short plays by Moira Buffini, Suhayla El-Bushra and Roy Williams, and the fourth annual Mapping Brent project, supported by the Brent 2020 Culture Fund. Kiln Theatre will also lead The Agency, a programme for young people in Brent to workshop and pitch unique business and social enterprise ideas for funding and support.

Kiln Theatre today announces the appointment of Dawn Austwick as Chair of the Board. Austwick, who is currently Chief Executive of The National Lottery Community Fund will join the theatre in early 2020. She will be taking over from interim Chair Moyra Doyle, and joining the current Board of Directors; Nicholas Basden, Dominic Cooke CBE, Moyra Doyle, Sita McIntosh, Anneke Mendelsohn, Karen Napier, and Barrie Tankel.
