 Today, GLAAD, the world's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, announced participants wearing purple or going purple online for Spirit Day in a united stand against bullying and show of support for LGBTQ youth.

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, which held its second annual gala tonight, raised $10 million to support the museum’s access, education, and programming initiatives. Director Sidney Lumet followed a string of Oscar®-winning 1970s classics with this lavish adaptation of the popular Broadway musical The Wiz, noted for its lively score and all-Black cast.  The Academy Museum’s first anniversary screening of The Wiz will feature live dance performances by the Debbie Allen Dance Studio youth performers.

Idina Menzel and A BroaderWay Foundation will be featured alongside Halle Berry (Jenesse Center), Misty Copeland (Misty Copeland Foundation), Laverne Cox (New York City Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project), Katy Perry (Firework Foundation), and more. 1776 begins previews on Broadway tonight, Friday, September 16, ahead of its official opening on Thursday, October 6, 2022. This is a limited engagement through Sunday, January 8, 2023 at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway (227 West 42nd Street).

From producer Oprah Winfrey and directed by Reginald Hudlin, , the documentary features candid interviews with Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Robert Redford, Lenny Kravitz, Barbra Streisand, Spike Lee and many more, the film is also produced by Derik Murray, in close collaboration with the Poitier family. Tamron Hall was honored by The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences on Friday with her second Daytime Emmy® Award for Outstanding Informative Talk Show Host during the televised ceremony from the Pasadena Convention Center. ABC News announced “Tamron Hall’s” premiere date for the show’s fourth season.

Former WME partner Holland is set as senior vice president of Scripted Series, along with seasoned producers Anil Kurian and Janice Park, who will both serve as vice presidents of Scripted Series. All three will report to Tara Duncan, president of Freeform and Onyx Collective.

The soundtrack is set to be released the same date as Baz Luhrmann’s forthcoming film ELVIS, starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks. The track incorporates “Hound Dog” in a unique, singular way that only Doja Cat could ever do.

ELVIS is an epic spectacle from filmmaker Baz Luhrmann that explores the life and music of Elvis Presley (Austin Butler) through the prism of his relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). The soundtrack features Elvis’s body of work spanning the 1950s, 60s and 70s, while also celebrating his diverse musical influences.

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures today announced the first round of exhibition rotations, which are scheduled for the 2022–2023 season. These rotations further the museum’s mission to advance the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through dynamic and diverse exhibitions.

The evening is being co-chaired by Academy Award-winning actor and Academy Museum supporter Halle Berry, Academy Museum Trustee and producer Jason Blum, Academy Museum Trustee and screenwriter, director, producer Ryan Murphy, and Academy Award-winning actor Lupita Nyong’o.
