Totem Pole Playhouse, America's beloved summer theatre, located in Caledonia State Park between Gettysburg and Chambersburg, PA, will present the Tony Award-winning musical Ain't Misbehavin' beginning this Sunday, June 17th through July 1st. The show features the music of acclaimed American Jazz pianist, singer, and composer Thomas Wright "Fats" Waller and contains such classic songs as "Honeysuckle Rose," "The Joint is Jumpin'," "Keepin' Out of Mischief Now," "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter," and "I Can't Give You Anything But Love," plus 25 other toe-tapping songs of the 1920s and 30s. Aint' Misbehavin' won the 1978 Tony Award for Best Musical and the 1988 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical, as well as a 1982 Emmy Award for Outstanding Musical or Variety Program. This is the first time this award-winning musical has ever been presented at Totem Pole Playhouse. Ain't Misbehavin' features a cast of five vocalists with a live jazz band on stage throughout the two-hour show. (more...)

With the UK premiere of The Gronholm Method running at the Menier, Travesties running on Broadway and The Color Purple on tour in the US, the Menier Chocolate Factory today announces the cast for UK premiere of Gerard Alessandrini's Spamilton: An American Parody which opens at the theatre on 24 July, with previews from 12 July and runs until 8 September. Alessandrini directs Marc Akinfolarin, Jason Denton, Eddie Elliott, Liam Tamne and Julie Yammanee, with special guests Sophie-Louise Dann and Damian Humbley. The production renews Alessandrini's collaboration with the Menier following Forbidden Broadway which ran both at the theatre and in the West End. (more...)

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Executive Director), dedicated to the development of new musicals and the preservation of musical gems from the past, has announced the cast of the 1961 Broadway musical Subways Are for Sleeping with music by Jule Styne and book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, the final show in the Winter 2018 Musicals in Mufti Series celebrating the work of the legendary composer Jule Styne. Performances are set to begin Saturday afternoon, February 24, 2018 for 11 performances only through Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Executive Director), dedicated to the development of new musicals and the preservation of musical gems from the past, presents the rarely-seen musical Bar Mitzvah Boy, with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Tony and Oscar winner Don Black (Sunset Boulevard), and book by Jack Rosenthal (Yentl), as adapted by David Thompson (The Scottsboro Boys), the second of three shows in the Winter 2018 Musicals in Mufti Series celebrating the work of composer Jule Styne. Performances began February 10, 2018 for 11 performances only through Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).
