SHOWTIME has ordered the first eight-episode season of the ongoing drama series RIPLEY, based on Patricia Highsmith's bestselling quintet of Tom Ripley novels. BAFTA(R) Award winner Andrew Scott (Fleabag, Sherlock) will star in the title role of Tom Ripley. Oscar and Golden Globe(R) winner and Emmy(R) nominee Steven Zaillian (Schindler's List, The Night Of) will write and direct the entire first season. Showtime Networks celebrated its 2019 nominees at a private event hosted at the San Vicente Bungalows in West Hollywood on Saturday, September 21, 2019. The company feted the cast and producers of Escape at Dannemora including Ben Stiller, Patricia Arquette and Paul Dano, WHO IS AMERICA and its star and creator Sacha Baron Cohen, BLACK MONDAY's Don Cheadle, and Pop TV's SCHITTS CREEK including Dan Levy and Eugene Levy.

SHOWTIME has announced a pilot order for the hour-long drama series YELLOWJACKETS, with creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson (Narcos) executive producing and serving as showrunners. Karyn Kusama (Destroyer) will executive produce and direct the pilot, a co-production of SHOWTIME and Entertainment One (eOne) taking place in Los Angeles this fall. Showtime Documentary Films announced it will premiere the network's first true crime docu-series,MURDER IN THE BAYOU, on Friday, September 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, from director Matthew Galkin (Kevorkian) and author Ethan Brown, whose New York Times Best Selling book Murder In The Bayou is the inspiration for the series. The five-part docu-series investigates the unsolved murders of eight women whose bodies were discovered between 2005 and 2009 in drainage canals and on desolate back roads in and around the town of Jennings, Louisiana in rural Jefferson Davis Parish. Today, Showtime Documentary Films announced that the new docu-series COUPLES THERAPY from DGA®Award nominated and Sundance Award winning filmmakers Josh Kriegman, Elyse Steinberg, and Eli Despres – the team behind the acclaimed SHOWTIME documentary WEINER – will premiere on Friday, September 6 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. SHOWTIME has given a straight-to-series order to the drama RUST, starring Emmy winner and Tony® and Golden Globe® nominee Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom, Godless, The Looming Tower), who will executive produce and reteam with Oscar nominee Dan Futterman (Capote). Futterman will write multiple episodes of the series, which is co-produced with Platform One Media and based on Philipp Meyer's celebrated debut novel American Rust. SHOWTIME has made a series commitment to an untitled musical drama series executive produced by multiple Grammy winner Alicia Keys and the Oscar, Tony and Grammy winning team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, Dear Evan Hansen, The Greatest Showman). Pasek and Paul will contribute music to the series. Kyle Jarrow (The SpongeBob Musical) will write and executive produce. Tony winner and Oscar nominated producer Marc Platt (Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, The Band's Visit, La La Land), Emmy winner R.J. SHOWTIME has ordered the critically acclaimed six episode comedy series BACK TO LIFE, from Fleabag producers Harry and Jack Williams andDaisy Haggard (EPISODES). Haggard plays Miri Matteson, who, after 18 years behind bars, returns home and stumbles back into adult life in the coastal town she once knew, while the mystery of her past looms large. Created by Haggard and written by Haggard and Laura Solon, the series will premiere on SHOWTIME on Sunday October 6 at 8:30 p.m. ETPT. SHOWTIME has picked up ON BECOMING A GOD IN CENTRAL FLORIDA, a one-hour series set to debut Sunday, August 25 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Starring Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Kirsten Dunst (Fargo), the nine-episode series is a darkly comedic story about the cult of free enterprise and one woman's relentless pursuit of the American Dream. In addition to Dunst, the series stars Théodore Pellerin (Genesis), Beth Ditto (Nocturnal Animals), Mel Rodriguez (The Last Man on Earth) and Ted Levine (The Silence of the Lambs). Created and executive produced by Robert Funke and Matt Lutsky and produced by Sony's TriStar Television, the series is also executive produced by Smokehouse Pictures' George Clooney (Catch-22) and Grant Heslov (Catch-22), along with Dunst, Charlie McDowell (The One I Love), who also directed the pilot and Esta Spalding (MASTERS OF SEX), who also serves as showrunner. SHOWTIME has announced it has signed acclaimed executive producers and writers Brian Koppelman and David Levien to an overall deal under which they will continue to serve as showrunners of the hit drama series BILLIONS while also developing new projects exclusively for the network. SHOWTIME has ordered an eight-episode season of the new half-hour comedy series WORK IN PROGRESS, created by Abby McEnany and Tim Mason. McEnany stars in the series, expected to premiere later this year. Mason directed the pilot. Lilly Wachowski (The Matrix, Sense8) will co-write the first season and executive produce with McEnany and Mason. SHOWTIME acquired the project after its premiere at this year's Sundance Film Festival, where it was an official selection of the Indie Episodic program. Filmmaker Albert Hughes (Alpha, Menace II Society) is joining as executive producer and will make his television directorial debut helming multiple episodes of the new SHOWTIME limited series THE GOOD LORD BIRD from Blumhouse Television, based on the National Book Award-winning novel The Good Lord Bird by bestselling author James McBride. Oscar®, Golden Globe® and Tony® nominee Ethan Hawke will star as 19th-century abolitionist John Brown and is co-writing and executive producing with award-winning author and producer Mark Richard (The Ice at the Bottom of the World and Hell on Wheels).

SHOWTIME has picked up a fifth season of its hit drama series BILLIONS. SHOWTIME has picked up the hit drama series THE CHI for a third season. Created and executive produced by Emmy® winner Lena Waithe (Boomerang, Master of None) and executive produced by Academy Award®, Emmy and Golden Globe® winner Common (Selma), THE CHI is a timely coming-of-age story centering on a group of residents who become linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption. The cast includes Jason Mitchell (Mudbound, Straight Outta Compton), Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine (Queen of Katwe), Jacob Latimore (Sleight), Alex Hibbert (Moonlight), Yolonda Ross (Treme) and Armando Riesco (Bull). The second season is currently airing Sundays at 10 p.m. PT/ET.

SHOWTIME announced today that it has picked up a second season of its series BLACK MONDAY. The comedy about a motley crew of underdogs causing the worst stock market crash in the history of Wall Street stars and is executive produced by Emmy nominee and Golden Globe winner Don Cheadle.

SHOWTIME has given a series commitment and opened a writers room for the new spy thriller INTELLIGENCE, a real-world scripted drama series from Academy Award-winning filmmaker Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty). Boal will write, direct and executive produce, marking the filmmaker's first foray into television. The series, based on real stories from around the world, will explore the secret inner workings of power – how espionage intersects with politics, finance, media and Silicon Valley. The first season will dramatize the behind-the-scenes history leading up to the 2016 U.S. election, with each subsequent season looking at a major world event through the lens of covert operations.

Deadline reports that Showtime has ordered a pilot from How To Make Love To A Black Woman (Who May Be Working Through Some Sh*t), a comedy anthology series from Lena Waithe and Cathy Kisakye.

SHOWTIME has announced that Academy Award® winner Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects) and Anthony Peckham (Invictus) have joined the drama series THE PRESIDENT IS MISSING, inspired by the bestselling novel by President Bill Clinton and James Patterson, currently in development.
