Minneapolis Musical Theatre has announced its first full season since before the COVID-19 pandemic, featuring three contemporary musicals that all put imaginative spins on classic tales. The season includes a special holiday production and two area premieres.
“Psycho” follows Anne-Marie’s release earlier this year with NEIKED and Latto “I Just Called.” Last year, she released her sophomore album Therapy – which included the hit collaborations “Our Song” with Niall Horan, “Kiss My (Uh Oh)” with Little Mix, “Don’t Play” with KSI and Digital Farm Animals, and “Way Too Long” with Nathan Dawe and MoStack.
The new album features The Dream Syndicate frontman Steve Wynn as well as PJ Harvey saxophonist Terry Edwards who also performed on Rural Tapes. They are also joined by Kristine Tjøgersen (clarinet, bass clarinet), Lars Løberg Tofte (bass), Marin Stallemo Bakke (violins) and Øystein Braut (electric guitar).
Folick will hit the road in the U.S. next week, with headlining stops in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, San Francisco and an extensive tour across the UK/EU with Tove Lo in October and November. Marcus Mumford shared his new single, “Better Off High.” The song is from (self-titled), which will be released September 16 by Capitol Records. The musical stage production is conceived and directed by Saheem Ali, music and lyrics by Michael Thurber, and written by Jocelyn Bioh.
