Who would guess that what has been described as a sleepy little cowtown is actually a hotbed of young musical talent? The latest to join Sacramento's rank of up-and-coming people-to-watch is Sam C. Jones, a transplant from Virginia who landed on the west coast in 2016 and has quickly made a name for himself in the world of local professional theatre. He has recently returned to his passion of songwriting and will be releasing an album of original work later this winter. Broadway World Sacramento spoke to Sam about the King, country music, and what gets his creative juices flowing.

Koo Koo Kanga Roo Fall Tour Includes Austin City Limits

Koo Koo Kanga Roo, an internationally touring comedic dance-pop duo, kicks off their fall tour this week with shows in Indianapolis, Chicago and Detroit. The duo will open for the Aquabats and headline dates in several cities around the midwest, east and south during September and October. They will also perform two sets during the Austin City Limits Festival on October 5th and 6th, when they will celebrate the release of a new single and music video called 'Glitter.'

Social Distortion Announces 40th Anniversary Concert

FRANK TURNER today announces details for a 19-date US headline tour in support of his forthcoming eighth album, NO MAN'S LAND out August 16 on Xtra Mile RecordingsPolydor Records. Produced by the GRAMMY® winning Catherine Marks (St. Vincent, Local Natives) and featuring an all-female cast of musicians, NO MAN'S LAND is an album dedicated to telling the fascinating stories of 13 women whose incredible lives have all too often been overlooked. The album is accompanied by a new 13-episode podcast series called Tales from No Man's Land. Two episodes have been released thus far. The tour dates will see Turner put a new twist on his formidable live set up, featuring a solo set followed by an unplugged band performance in seated venues.

The Shout Syndicate Announces $200K In Grants For Youth Arts Projects In Boston

The Shout Syndicate, after two years of fundraising, announced a pilot program of grants to fund youth arts projects at proven creative youth organizations in Greater Boston. Eight grants ranging from $20-25,000 will be announced mid-August for youth projects implemented through the school year: September 2019 through June 2020.

This Friday Los Angeles-based musician Michelle Vezilj will release her new single 'Fire Goes To Die.' The 'Fire Goes To Die' lyric video premeired at Entertainment Focus along with an exclusive interview with Michelle. 'Fire Goes To Die' can also be shared at SoundCloud and will be on all streaming services on Friday. About the song, Michelle Vezilj says, 'I wrote my song 'Fire Goes To Die' in response to my experience and as an anthem for the Me Too movement. It's my small way of encouraging other survivors of all genders and orientations to come forward and know they are not alone, the way I once was. Recently, a lot of brave women have started coming forward with their own stories. Their will to stand up and say something propelled me to come forward. Speaking those words out loud gave me back my power. I hope that I can help other people fighting their own battles because no one should have to fight alone.'

Against Me! Announce Full Album Tour For October

Acclaimed American rock band AGAINST ME! are excited to announce their upcoming fall tour titled 2 Nights / 4 Records / 48 Songs. Folk-Rock Multi-Instrumentalist Ben McKelvey Shares 'Wild Child'

UK-born and based one-man band Ben McKelvey has shared folk-rock track 'Wild Child' from his 2018 album of the same name. He has been part of many tours performing across USA, UK and Europe in venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, the O2 Arena and the London Palladium providing main support for Wet Wet Wet in 17 arenas, 20 dates for The Overtones, 50 shows as support for the Genesis supergroup, Mike & The Mechanics, touring with Marti Pellow, Scouting For Girls. During 2019 he will be the official support act for Bruce Springsteen Band's Jake Clemons. His headlining shows in London and Brighton during November 2018 sold out both performances.
