Saratoga Performing Arts Center is inviting audiences to the SPAC grounds and nearby Pitney Farms to experience live, outdoor performances throughout the summer. The SPAC amphitheater and main lawn will be the home of performances by New York City Ballet, The Philadelphia Orchestra and Opera Saratoga, as well as “A Midsummer Night’s Supper.”

Miami City Ballet (MCB) welcomes nine new dancers to the company, bringing this season's roster to 53. Under the artistic leadership of Lourdes Lopez and with a growing repertoire of over 130 works that honor the masters while opening pathways for emerging choreographers, MCB is one of the most celebrated and critically acclaimed ballet companies in the country.

Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company will present Dance With Us, an educational digital platform centered around the premiere of a series of new dance films. The resource launches from June 25-27, 2021 at 7pm ET with the premieres of the films and the reveal of the platform, a website whose URL will go live at this moment.

Today Jacob’s Pillow has announced plans to host a multi-platform virtual and on-site Festival in 2021, undertake substantial renovations to the Ted Shawn Theatre, and complete Vision ’22, a five-year strategic plan established in 2017.

New York City Ballet’s 2021 Digital Season programming has been announced for the week of February 22-27, focusing on George Balanchine’s Prodigal Son. The ballet is the first to be featured in the multi-part series “Three Sides of Balanchine,” exploring the choreographer’s narrative, classical, and neoclassical traditions.

New York City Ballet announced today that the Company is planning to create several new works and special programs, many of which will be specially filmed onstage at the Koch Theater, for online release from February through May 2021.  

Miami City Ballet will present George Balanchine's The Nutcracker in the Park, live before an audience in the outdoor splendor of Downtown Doral Park. The innovative multimedia production which uses animation, projection, video and live sequences, also takes COVID-19 precautions into careful consideration.

Ensemble for the Romantic Century today announced the postponement of the Off-Broadway premiere of its acclaimed production Akhmatova: The Heart Is Not Made of Stone by Eve Wolf. Performances were scheduled to begin April 24th for a limited engagement through May 29th at The Duke on 42nd Street.

Opening night of San Francisco Ballet's triumphant production of George Balanchine's a?oeA Midsummer Night's Dreama?? was both a thrilling and heartbreaking occasion. Thrilling because SFB gave a masterful performance of this Balanchine classic that has gone missing from its repertoire for far too long. Heartbreaking because mere moments after the final curtain came down, a notice was issued that all subsequent performances of a?oeMidsummer'sa?? scheduled run had been cancelled due the Mayor's efforts to prevent the spread of the corona virus. Of course, health concerns must take precedence, but it was still incredibly sad to think that others would not be able to experience this glorious production, at least for the time being. I also couldn't help feeling for the dancers and artistic staff who had clearly poured their hearts and souls into this huge endeavor. In the meantime, though, let's not let current events dim the glowing memories of opening night.

Jacob's Pillow, in partnership with the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) and the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA), invites early career dance presenters to apply for an immersive professional development experience at Jacob's Pillow, August 5-8, 2020. The third annual Forum, reinstated in July 2018 in response to field-wide interest, is developed in collaboration with key partners from across the U.S. and designed to be a catalytic opportunity for early career dance presenters.

New Jersey Ballet's seasonal presentation of the holiday classic Nutcracker comes to Mayo Performing Arts Center for 14 performances beginning Friday, December 13 at 7:30 pm. New Jersey Symphony Orchestra will provide live orchestral accompaniment. Tickets are $29-69.  (all dates listed below)

I think I've seen Jewels at least 200 times in my life. Notwithstanding all the performances-excellent, good, mediocre, or just beyond mention, the ballet always yields rewards in its seemingly abundant outpouring of music and dance. We all know Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky from so many Balanchine ballets. Who would have thought of Gabriel Fauré?

Words On Dance returns to the New York stage with two evenings featuring conversations with luminaries of dance, theater and film. The programs, Oct. 21 and Nov. 11, are presented in association with Symphony Space, the performing arts center at 2537 Broadway at 95th Street.
