New Jersey Ballet's seasonal presentation of the holiday classic Nutcracker comes to Mayo Performing Arts Center for 14 performances beginning Friday, December 8 at 7:30 pm.

L'Académie of Dance is proud to announce the appointment of Ballet Master and Artistic Director, Sean Musselman. Musselman studied at The School of American Ballet in New York City. There he had the rare opportunity to work under the legendary George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins (of the Broadway classic West Side Story fame) and with the Russian superstar Danseur Rudolph Nureyev.

Jacob's Pillow announces the launch of The Ann & Weston Hicks Choreography Fellows Program in summer of 2018, marking continued implementation of Vision '22, the institution's five-year growth plan to support and expand its role as a year-round center for dance creation and research.

In 1967, ballerina Tanaquil Le Clercq published The Ballet CookBook, her masterful compendium of ballet history, food stories, and recipes from over 90 leading dancers and choreographers of the day, including George Balanchine, Jacques d'Amboise, Melissa Hayden, and Allegra Kent.

On November 12, 2017, the Auditorium Theatre, The Theatre for the People, commemorates the 50th anniversary of its grand re-opening with A Golden Celebration of Dance, a one-night-only mixed repertory program featuring dancers from the world's premier dance companies: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, Dutch National Ballet, Eifman Ballet of St. Petersburg, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, The Joffrey Ballet, MOMIX, New York City Ballet, Parsons Dance, The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, and The Washington Ballet. In addition, the evening will feature special performances by finalists from the Youth America Grand Prix, the next generation of great dancers.

Lourdes Lopez, Miami City Ballet's Artistic Director, has reported that the company's Miami Beach headquarters, its dancers, students and staff are safe and have experienced Hurricane Irma with minimal damage.

The newly created Liberty Hall Dance Festival will be presented on Saturday, September 16th in Union, NJ. The festival was created by Nicole Bugg of Bugg Ballet in partnership with the Liberty Hall Museum at Kean University.

XAOC Contemporary Ballet presents its second full evening of work on September 24, 2017 at 7pm at the NY City Center Studios. The evening will feature the company in five original ballets by artistic director and choreographer Eryn Renee Young.

Miami City Ballet will present a world premiere ballet choreographed by Troy Schumacher as part of the opening program of New York City Center's 2017 Fall for Dance Festival on October 2 and 3 at New York City Center (55th Street between 6th & 7th Avenues). The new work has been commissioned by City Center and is a meditation on childhood, set to Francis Poulenc's Concerto for Two Pianos in D Minor and featuring a cast of 14 Miami City Ballet dancers.

The 2016 Jacob's Pillow Dance Award Winner, Camille A. Brown, will bring her evening-length work BLACK GIRL: Linguistic Play to the Ted Shawn Theatre this summer, August 9-13.

Trisha Brown Dance Company (TBDC) performs at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in the Ted Shawn Theatre, August 16-20, representing the work of one of the seminal choreographers of the 20th century. Since Brown's passing this past March, witnessing TBDC in an evening-length program is an increasingly rare experience. Echoing Brown's choreographic innovation, timeless aesthetic, and 1960s postmodern approach to dance making, TBDC will perform a version of Opal Loop (1980) prepared especially for Jacob's Pillow, featuring former dancers of the company and an original cast member. Acknowledging Brown's more recent choreography, TBDC will also perform Groove and Countermove (2000) and L'Amour au théâtre (2009). As the company ventures into a new era, viewing Brown's work in a proscenium venue “feel[s] increasingly essential” (The New Yorker).
