2021 NYC INDIE THEATRE FILM FESTIVAL Announces Full Lineup

The New Ohio Theatre’s NYC Indie Theatre Film Festival announced the 2021 online film lineup today. NYCITFF offers a selection of new feature-length and short films, filmmaker Q&As, and a conversation with prolific screenwriter and playwright Qui Nguyen between March 10-14.

THE LAST CYCLIST To Appear In The Chain And Melech Festivals

The Last Cyclist, originally written and rehearsed in the Terezín Ghetto during the Holocaust and presented at La MaMa in 2017, is an official selection of the Chain Festival in New York and the Melech Festival in Israel.  The comic allegory by Karel Švenk, reconstructed and reimagined by Naomi Patz, pits innocent bicycle riders (Jews) against escaped lunatics (Nazis) who seek to destroy them.  The New York productions of the play as well as the film were directed by Edward Einhorn.

Greg only met Ginny a month ago, but he knows they're meant for each other. When she announces that she's going to visit her parents, Greg decides this is the moment to ask her father for his daughter's hand. Discovering a scribbled address, he follows her to Buckinghamshire where he finds Philip and Sheila enjoying a peaceful Sunday morning breakfast in the garden, but the only thing is - they're not Ginny's parents.

Untitled Theater Company No. 61 (UTC61) presents a new play by Edward Einhorn about his grandfather, Alexander S. Wiener, who discovered the Rh Factor in Blood. Told through the lens of interviews with his mother, Jane Einhorn, a PhD psychologist and visual artist who had recently experienced a stroke at the time of the interviews. The play uses a mixture of verbatim/found text and invented dialogue to examine Wiener's legacy, both scientific and familial. How does it change your life to have a world famous father...or grandfather? How does that legacy continue through the generations?

Jermyn Street Theatre kicks off its 2020 season with three of Samuel Beckett's finest short plays. The American Opera Project Selects Fellows & Resident Singers For Innovative Training Program

a??a??a??a??a??a??a??The American Opera Project (AOP), announces its selection of eight composers and librettists to receive fellowships for its 10th cycle of the Composers & the Voice training program. Composers Alaina Ferris, Matt Frey, Michael Lanci, Mary Prescott, Jessica Rudman, Tony Solitro, and librettists Amanda Hollander and Jonathan Turner, will each receive a 2-year, tuition-free fellowship that provides experience writing for the voice and opera stage. The fellows will work collaboratively with the following six singers, named as the 10th Composers & the Voice Resident Ensemble: Lyric Coloratura Soprano Justine Aronson, Lyric Soprano Jasmine Muhammad, Mezzo-Soprano Augusta Caso, Tenor Timothy Stoddard, Baritone Mario Diaz-Moresco and Bass-Baritone Brandon Coleman.

Playwrights On Park Reading Series Begins On October 6

Playwrights on Park will begin the new season on Sunday, October 6, 2019. Through this reading series, original plays and musicals from emerging and established playwrights are developed and produced. The first play of the 2019-20 season is ALMA BAYA by Edward Einhorn. Sasha Bratt will direct.

REHEARSAL FOR TRUTH Theater Festival Announces SPRING WEEKEND

In spring 2019, the REHEARSAL FOR TRUTH Theater Festival, honoring Vaclav Havel, will add a weekend of contemporary European stage readings to their yearly program. The Vaclav Havel Library Foundation (VHLF) partners with the Bohemian Benevolent & Literary Association to create a showcase of young European playwrights. The selection process includes choosing Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian and Slovak plays that have been translated into English and reflect on current social and political issues of the region.
