BroadwayWorld is deeply saddened to report the passing of the legendary Carol Channing. Channing died at 12:31am on Tuesday, January 15th, 2019, at home in Rancho Mirage, CA of natural causes.

Broadway's newest hit has arrived. New York magazine calls The Prom "a smart, big-hearted musical," and The New York Times says it "makes you believe in musical comedy again!" With a book by Tony Award winner Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone), a tuneful score by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer), and direction and choreography by Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Mean Girls, Aladdin), Broadway's newest hit musical comedy, The Prom will have you dancing in the aisles.

According to NBC, the creators of The Prom are reaching out to Vice President Mike Pence to invite him to see the show.

It was announced today that the Original Broadway Cast Recording Of The Prom is set for digital release December 14th and physically January 11th.  Available for preorder now, the album is produced by Scott M. Riesett and Tony Award Nominee Matthew Sklar, with music by Sklar and lyrics by four-time Tony Award Nominee Chad Beguelin.

The Commercial Theater Institute (CTI) and Executive Director Tom Viertel have announced speakers for the upcoming 2-day Marketing Seminar, taking place on Thursday, November 29th and Friday, November 30th, 2018.  CTI is the theater industry's leading training and professional development program and features over 100 of the most distinguished industry professionals as lecturers and panelists including many Tony Award- winning producers.

American fashion Designer and social activist, Kenneth Cole, today announced a partnership with Broadway's new musical comedy, THE PROM, to support human rights of LGBTQI people and equality. The partnership includes a fundraising initiative for the UN Foundation in support of UN Free & Equal - a global public information campaign of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to promote the fair and equal rights of LGBTQI+ people globally.

The new Broadway comedy The Prom has announced that a limited number of $40 general rush tickets (including the $2 facility fee) will be available at the Longacre Theatre box office (220 West 48th Street) when it opens for that day's performance(s) beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, October 23, 2018. The Actors Fund announces today that in partnership with The Jacob Burns Film Center's series Life on Stage, tickets are now on sale for a special screening of the five-time Tony Award nominated musical Falsettos, captured Live From Lincoln Center during its 2016 revival.

The fourth annual Broadway Back to School, benefitting theatre education programs for underserved schools, takes place September 23 at Feinstein's 54 Below in New York City.

The Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC), a nonprofit cultural arts center and one of the most successful suburban film houses in the country, will celebrate its meaningful connection to Broadway by honoring two visionaries of the theater community at its gala, BUILDING IMAGINATION, on Monday, September 17th.

Tuesday, August 21, the Jacob Burns Film Center (Pleasantville, NY) screened the original 1933 classic King Kong before scheduled to come alive on Broadway this fall. The screening was followed by a Q&A with the Musical Creative Team, including curator Dori Berinstein, director/choreographer Drew McOnie, set & projection designer Peter England, creature designer Sonny Tilders and executive producer Babara Darwall Collins.
