Theatre Communications Group has announced the recipients of the first round of the 2021 Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards. The awards, totaling $1,072,000, allow 28 productions extra time for the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, hoping to extend the life of the world premiere play after its first run.

New Conservatory Theatre Center will celebrate 40 years of serving the Bay Area LGBTQ+ community, and its long-awaited return to live performances with a captivating 21-22 Season of two World Premieres, one Rolling World Premiere, one Regional Premiere, two West Coast Premieres, and a special musical celebration waiting in the wings. 

On June 30th, The REV Theatre Company reopens its historic flagship venue, the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, with the song and dance spectacular, 42nd Street. The show marks the company's return to live performances and runs through July 28 at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse in Emerson Park. Broadway In Detroit has announced that Broadway shows will return to the Fisher Theatre October 19 with the RENT 25th Anniversary Farewell Tour with performances through Sunday, October 24.

The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts today announced the re-launch of its beloved flagship series, Broadway @ the Ordway. Broadway @ the Ordway 2021-2022 includes four popular musicals: 'Fiddler on the Roof,' 'Summer: The Donna Summer Musical,' 'An Officer and a Gentleman' and 'Waitress.'

I can’t think of a better way to welcome live theater back to Kansas City than to BLAME IT ON THE BOOGIE a production of Musical Theater Heritage and playing in the 4th-floor theater in Crown Center. This is MTH’s first indoor production in sixteen months due to the pandemic, and as the announcer says at the beginning of the show it will “transport you to a better time”.

The production is conceived and directed by MTH Executive Artistic Director Tim Scott, with musical direction by Michalis Koutsoupides. The cast includes Erikka Dunn, Jazlyn Epps, T. Eric Morris, Robert Vardiman, Willis White, and LeShea Wright. The dance ensemble features Sydnee Bell, Courtney Germany, and Katie McCluskey. The four-person band is Koutsoupides on Keyboards, Julian Goff on drums, Dustin McKinney on guitar, and Joey Panella on bass.

Signature Theatre has announced a private reading of the new musical Big Country. The reading stars LaChanze (Broadway’s Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, The Color Purple) as Addie Moore and Terrence Mann (Broadway’s Tuck Everlasting, Pippin) as Louis Waters. The reading on June 11 is closed to the public.

State Theatre New Jersey has announced its 2021-22 Reopening Broadway Season, featuring 10 fantastic shows in a fully renovated theater including brand-new theater seats. The Wagner New Play Festival is an annual event where each M.F.A. playwright at UC San Diego writes a new work that is produced alongside M.F.A. directors, actors, and designers. MTH Theater at Crown Center has announced plans for its first indoor performance of the 2021 Season. BLAME IT ON THE BOOGIE: A Disco Inferno, celebrating the disco songs that emerged and energized a generation, will be held inside the 450 seat, 4th floor Theater at Crown Center at reduced capacity.

LOLAA take their inspiration from 70’s & 80's icons such as Daniela Romo, Gloria Estefan, Camilo Sesto, Debbie Harry, and Donna Summer. Their debut EP was a mix of all the ideas the sisters had in their heads, a cultural collision of sounds with a touch of shimmer.
