New Jewish Theatre and The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis Clean Up at Monday's Theater Circle Awards

New Jewish Theatre’s 14 wins and The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis’ 13 wins sweep the St. Louis Theatre Circle Awards. In ceremonies on Monday night, New Jewish Theatre’s production of Cabaret won the most awards, including Outstanding Production of a musical. The Rep’s productions of Tarell Alvin McCraney’s The Brothers Size and The Cottage were named Outstanding Production of a Drama and Outstanding Production of a Comedy.

GUYS AND DOLLS to be Presented at Le Petit Theatre

One of the greatest musical comedies of all time is coming to Le Petit Theatre this March. Brimming with gangsters, gamblers, showgirls, and holy rollers, Guys and Dolls: A Musical Fable of Broadway is an oddball romantic comedy.

The 2026 ST. LOUIS THEATER CIRCLE AWARD NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED - The Rep Leads All Companies with 38 Nods

The St. Louis Theatre Circle has announced their nominations for their annual awards to be distributed on March 23, 2026, at the Loretto-Hilton Center. 172 theatre artists have been nominated in 34 categories honoring the best in St. Louis Theater in 2025. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis leads all companies with a record-breaking 38 nominations for their productions of Athena, Clyde’s, Emma, Ken Ludwig’s Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood, The Brothers Size, and The Cottage. Emma is the most nominated comedy of the season with 11 nominations.

Critic James Lindhorst's Best of St. Louis Theatre in 2025

This past season was the year of the comedy in St. Louis Theater. Companies across the city had audiences laughing all season long with slapstick, farce, and satire. There were some wonderful musical productions that really sang, a few hard hitting dramas, but comedies reigned in both quantity and quality. Instead of publishing a Top 10 list this year, I’m going to recognize the Best in St. Louis Theater for 2025. “The Best” is still a shortened list of just 13 shows out of the nearly 90 shows I saw this past year. It took weeks of thought and painstaking consideration to decide which productions would be included in my annual list. Here they are. The productions are listed in alphabetical order, not ranked by favorites:

THE BROTHERS SIZE to Kick Off The Rep's Studio Series

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis will kick off the Steve Woolf Studio Series with The Brothers Size, a modern-day fable about life after incarceration and the struggles of family, duty and freedom by Tarell Alvin McCraney. Learn more!

Jefferson Performing Arts Society Announces Directors for 45th Season

Jefferson Performing Arts Society proudly announces its 45th season mainstage directors, featuring directors based in New Orleans, New York, and San Antonio. Several directors are returning to JPAS after directing or performing with JPAS in recent seasons; two make their JPAS directorial debut this season. The following overview includes shows that are part of JPAS mainstage season subscription packages, currently on sale. Single ticket sales open June 6th for all 45th season shows. GOD OF CARNAGE To Open JPAS 44th Season

Jefferson Performing Arts Society opens its 44th season with the dark comedy God of Carnage, a 2009 Broadway hit originally written in French by internationally acclaimed playwright Yasmina Reza.

Berkshire Playwrights Lab Presents SOME OLD BLACK MAN

Berkshire Playwrights Lab and the Mahaiwe Performing Arts  Center will co-present a YouTube screening of James Anthony Tyler's Some Old Black Man, starring Wendell Pierce and Charlie Robinson
