Stage Left Theatre announces their upcoming production of MAN OF THE PEOPLE - a new play by Dolores Díaz and directed by Anna C. Bahow.

Si, se puede. Three words that inspired a movement and  defined the legacy of civil rights icon and American living legend Dolores Huerta. On Sunday,  Nov 13 at 7pm, the Younes and Soraya Center for the Performing Arts will honor her with  Concierto para Dolores: A Musical Tribute to Dolores Huerta, a one-night celebration of the social justice trailblazer. 

Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Company, founded in 1972, celebrates its 50th Anniversary with the premiere of Once Upon El Barrio, conceived and choreographed by Enrique Cruz DeJesus, Artistic Director since 1998.  Inspiration for his new work has come from the writings of Piri Thomas, poet and author of Seven Long Times, and Savior, Savior, Hold My Hand, and the best-selling autobiography Down These Mean Streets. 

On Sunday, November 6, The Fled Collective invites you to have a seat at their table for a very special event. 'Radio Fled LIVE: Fled Table Talk' is a Live and in-person episode of the nascent anti-racist theatre company's online radio show, Radio Fled, which hosts community conversations about building an equitable theater industry.

Stage Left Theatre has announced the cast for the upcoming production of MAN OF THE PEOPLE - a new play by Dolores Díaz and directed by Anna C. Bahow. The show is Díaz's anticipated new work since ZULEMA, produced by Goodman Theatre in 2021. Performances take place at Chicago Dramatists from October 19th through November 20th.

'Yerma' is an acclaimed Spanish play by Spanish dramatist Federico García Lorca. The play tells the story of a childless woman living in rural Spain. She is trapped between her sense of duty and honor to her circumstances and her desire to live a full and meaningful life and to have a child. Her desperate desire for motherhood becomes an obsession that eventually drives her to commit a horrific crime.

On Pitch Performing Arts will celebrate its first community theater production produced on their newly built Creator’s Stage with the opening “Great Tuna” on Friday, October 7th.  For a limited 6 show run, the off-Broadway hit features two actors creating the entire population of Tuna, Texas in a tour de farce of quick-change artistry in this hilarious send-up of small-town morals and mores.

“El libro Adamo Boari (1863-1928). Arquitecto entre América y Europa nos dio la oportunidad de hacer algo que nunca se había hecho, unir realmente los archivos mexicanos con los expedientes italianos. Es una investigación y patrimonio cultural documentado que nos ha permitido tener claridad sobre las obras, cartas, correspondencia y todo lo relacionado con la vida de este gran personaje”, afirmó Olimpia Niglio, autora de la obra. 

Director Sidney Lumet followed a string of Oscar®-winning 1970s classics with this lavish adaptation of the popular Broadway musical The Wiz, noted for its lively score and all-Black cast.  The Academy Museum’s first anniversary screening of The Wiz will feature live dance performances by the Debbie Allen Dance Studio youth performers.

The previously-postponed production of Hello, Dolly!, starring Imelda Staunton in the title role, is now set to take place in the summer of 2024.
