Road Theatre Company announced an extension of HELL MOUTH, the world premiere written by Tom Jacobson and directed by Ann Hearn Tobolowsky, closing at the Road Theatre in North Hollywood.

The star of the show, in the end, is Jacobson’s script, leading us toward the titular HELL MOUTH through five well-drawn characters and their existential crises that mirror our own.

I spoke with Julie about creating the women in this play who are deeply spiritual people who were raised in the Baptist church and have been wounded by it.

The Unexpected Guest, the classic mystery by Agatha Christie, will be directed by Warren Davis and produced by David Hunt Stafford for Theatre Forty. The production will be presented at Theatre Forty in the Mary Levin Cutler Theatre.

What Opa Did is masterful and brutally honest storytelling at its best, with each actor dedicated to showing each person as a human being, not just either good or bad, while trying to cope with the reality of their lives in Germany in World War II.

J.B. Priestley’s Hitchcockian suspense drama An Inspector Calls enjoyed a very successful run at Theatre 40 during this past November/December, directed with great skill and innovation by Cate Caplin. As of January 8, the production moves into the stately Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills, a perfect location for the play’s action. Here is my interview with Cate about moving the production there.

Directed with pinpoint focus and lots of movement by Cate Caplin to keep the play from becoming a typical “talking heads” production, I guarantee An Inspector Calls will keep you captivated until its startling conclusion.

Theatre 40 will present An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley at Greystone Mansion from January 8–18, 2026. Directed by Cate Caplin, the limited engagement features performances Thursday through Sunday, with an additional showing on January 14.

Beverly Hills Playhouse will present the world premiere stimulating drama of MY DAD'S KID by playwright Eric Toms.  Allen Barton will direct a cast of two in the sweet and witty production about complicated familial dynamics.

Otherkin will begin previews on Tuesday, September 23; will open on Friday, September 26 at 8pm and perform through Sunday, November 2 at 2pm at the Road Theatre, located in The NoHo Senior Arts Colony, 10747 Magnolia Blvd. in North Hollywood.

Theatre 40 in Beverly Hills will present the world premiere of All These Women, a new historical drama written and directed by longtime company artist Melanie MacQueen. Performances will run from September 18 to October 19, 2025, at Theatre 40’s home in the Mary Levin Cutler Theatre on the campus of Beverly Hills High School.

A Jukebox for the Algonquin will make its West Coast Premiere engagement of a new comedy, written by Paul Stroili, directed by Larry Eisenberg, and produced for Theatre Forty by David Hunt Stafford.

Becky's New Car, a comedy by Steven Dietz, will be presented at Theatre Forty in a production directed by Cape Caplin. The play runs May 15- June 15, 2025.

THE ROAD THEATRE COMPANY and Taylor Gilbert, Founder/Artistic Director together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director, has announced the third show of its 2024-2025 season, the West Coast premiere of THE TOTALITY OF ALL THINGS, written by Eric Gernand and directed by Taylor Nichols.

In SLEEPING GIANT, it was clear I was witnessing more than a metaphor about the continuing evolution of MAGA. And it was all too frightening.

I will start off straight away by saying you have to see FAT HAM. And I hope you are lucky enough to see it at Dezart Performs. This cast, in the hands of Michael Shaw, and AD Chuma Gault, form a very realistic, very dysfunctional family coming together at a backyard barbecue in North Carolina resulting in awkward situations and non-stop laughter in the James Ijames play aptly described as “Hamlet at a Southern BBQ”.
