National Theatre Explores Virtual Reality and 306 Films with New Immersive Storytelling Studio

The National Theatre today announces the establishment of an 'Immersive Storytelling Studio', which will form part of the National Theatre's New Work Department, in collaboration with the NT's Digital Development Team. The studio will examine how Virtual Reality and 360 films can widen and enhance the National's remit to be a pioneer of dramatic storytelling, to 'place their audiences in the shoes of another'.

Summer in the city begins on July 4th, Louis Armstrong's traditional birthday, when the Louis Armstrong House Museum kicks off its signature summer concert series Hot Jazz / Cool Garden - now in its 10th year. For three days this summer, hot jazz is served up with red beans 'n' rice in the Armstrongs' Japanese-inspired garden. Birthday cake will be served on July 4th and Hot Jazz / Cool Garden series subscribers will enjoy a soul food luncheon too. It's a wonderful world at the Louis Armstrong House Museum.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) and FABnyc will co-present a live show with the popular public radio show and podcast Person Place Thing with writer and humorist Randy Cohen, featuring HADESTOWN's celebrated singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell and inventive two-time Obie award-winning director Rachel Chavkin at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003) on Monday, June 6 at 7:00 pm. Hawaii Symphony Orchestra to Welcome Olga Kern for All-Russian Program

The Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra (HSO) concludes its 2015-2016 season with a glorious weekend of Russian masterworks on Saturday, June 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 12 at 4 p.m. Titled "From Russia With Love," the season finale begins with Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and is followed by Tchaikovsky's final composition, the Piano Concerto No. 3 in E-flat major featuring pianist Olga Kern - Gold Medal winner of the 2001 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Led by Maestro Victor Yampolsky, "From Russia With Love" also features Kern in Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 1 in D-flat major, the work that sealed Prokofiev's reputation as a composer. The concert program concludes with Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances op. 45, a symphonic work that celebrates a lush orchestral palette. We challenge concertgoers not to be moved by this performance. Tickets start at $34 and are on sale now.
