This summer, Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony will join the Nashville Symphony for a multi-week limited series celebrating the Summer of Dolly Parton. The exclusive seven-week engagement kicks off June 16 and runs through July 31 at Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

This year’s edition did not disappoint!

One of my favorite holiday traditions is attending the yearly A Holiday Pops! concert at Kennedy Center. Hearing YOUR National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) under the always superb direction of Maestro Steven Reineke play some familiar holiday favorites mixed in with some newer pieces is a great way to get in to the holiday spirit. This year’s edition featured Broadway/recording star Jessica Vosk and The Heritage Signature Chorale. Trust me, the program was so good it could even turn a Grinch or a Scrooge into a Tiny Tim.

After almost 40 years the first man to popularize Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) is still going strong. Michael W. Smith’s musicianship, skills as a composer, and entrancing vocal style has helped audiences of all denominations appreciate the word of God in a way that isn’t preachy. He gets the message across through his compositions and vocals.

Among the tracks, there are two instrumental pieces, “The Star” (featuring a haunting vocal line from daughter Whitney Mooring and lush orchestration) and “Christmas at Wildwood' which features Smith’s signature gift and sound for writing melodies on the piano.  Throughout the entire EP, the music and orchestration play like an epic movie soundtrack.  

GRAMMY ® Winning, multi-platinum selling and artist Michael W. Smith is releasing his moving new instrumental single “Cry For Hope” today in response to the current devastation in Ukraine. “Cry For Hope” was recorded with the Nashville Recording Orchestra and Smith on piano. David Hamilton led the orchestration and co-produced the song with Smith.
