TADA! Youth Theater Presents THE DANGEROUS CHRISTMAS OF RED RIDING HOOD

The Dangerous Christmas of Red Riding Hood is a hilarious take on the Red Riding Hood story told from the Wolf's point of view, book by Robert Emmett, lyrics by Bob Merrill and music by Jule Styne. TADA! was the first company to perform this musical on stage. It was originally produced as a TV special in 1965 featuring Liza Minnelli, Cyril Richard and Vic Damone. Performances run from November 23 through December 15, 2019. The production will be directed by Janine Nina Trevens, TADA!'s Founder and Producing Artistic Director, and choreographed by Joanna Greer, TADA!'s Associate Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer.

Jason Alexander To Host DGF's Fall Gala

Tony Award-winning star of stage and screen Jason Alexander to host The Dramatists Guild Foundation's 2019 DGF Gala on Monday, November 4 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York. 2019 DGF Gala to include inaugural presentations of Alan Jay Lerner Awards to pay tribute to the Foundation's founder, Alan Jay Lerner, and be given to individuals with outstanding legacies of supporting writers across the country.

J2 Spotlight Musical Theatre Company Announces Inaugural Season

The newly formed J2 Spotlight Musical Theater Company launches its inaugural 2020 season with three musical gems: Seesaw (February 13-23, 2020), No Strings (February 27 a?' March 8, 2020) and A Class Act (March 12-22, 2020) at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd street).

The Dramatists Guild Foundation (DGF) will honor Tony Award-winning songwriting duo Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Once On This Island), the President of Concord Theatricals, Sean Patrick Flahaven, along with TodayTix Founders Brian Fenty and Merritt Baer at their annual DGF Gala on Monday, November 4 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in NYC. The evening's program will be directed by Kathleen Marshall.

CVRep To Premier Re-imagined Revival Of BALLROOM

The Coachella Valley Repertory (CVRep) has announced it will debut a new, re-imagined version of the 1978 Broadway musical BALLROOM with book by Jerome Kass, music by Billy Goldenberg, and lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman.

Palmyra Area High School To Produce AMELIE: SCHOOL EDITION

Palmyra Area High School's Musical Program is currently in the final weeks of rehearsals for its upcoming pilot production of Amélie: High School Edition to be presented Sat., Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. and Sun., Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. on the stage of the Palmyra Middle School. Palmyra is partnering with the creators of the 2017 Broadway musical and Samuel French, Inc., a Concord Theatricals Company, on a special pilot production. The musical has been adapted for high school performers, and Palmyra will present the show prior to its general release. The pilot process allows Samuel French to fine-tune the script, music, and materials.

WaterTower Theatre Announces Limited-Engagement Run of GOLDEN BOY

WaterTower Theatre will round out its 2019-2020 season with a special limited-engagement, concert-style production of the inspiring 1960s musical Golden Boy. Adapted from the 1930s drama by Clifford Odets, and featuring a book by Odets and William Gibson, Golden Boy tells the story of Joe Wellington, a young black man trying to rise from the Harlem ghetto as a prizefighter. Wellington, originated on Broadway in 1964 by the iconic Sammy Davis, Jr., is enticed by the boxing world's promise of fame and fortune, but he makes one critical mistake: falling for his manager's white girlfriend, Lorna.
